I spent nearly 11 months in ground radio tech school to learn to repair PRC 25s & similar equipment. Went I got to Nam they needed operators more than technicians. They sent me to Khe Shan & I was calling in artillery less than a day after I got there. What an experience !!!

Spirit27,
I am going to use the story.
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the only difference between the PRC 77 & the PRC 25 was that the 77 was KY-38 capable ?
I toted the 25 all over northern I Corps in Nam. I used the 41s & 47s to call in air strikes & such.

BigA,
Thanks for your kind comments & yes I was surely around Salty Old Dogs. I don’t want you to think that I was an altar boy or anything like that. As First Sgt. I attempted to hold my troops to a higher standard as for as demeanor & language was concerned. As I was retiring several told me that they appreciated my standards. Oh don’t get me wrong I would occasionally let fly some H***s, BSs, & D***s. I also enjoy the occasional adult beverages.
I guess ,due to my up bringing ,that I had great respect for the females of our species.
I always appreciate constructive comments. Thanks again.

Spirit27,
The CNO story was really good & yes I would like to use in some of speaking my opportunities to students & veteran groups.
I knew that I had heard of Lincoln Ca. 4 or 5 years ago I went fishing in the Sierras with my son who lives at Moss Landing Ca near Monterrey. I remember the sign as we went by on I 80. We fished in the Bridgeport, Lee Vining , & June Lake area. Really about the best fishing adventure of my life. Who would ever thought that an Alabama boy would have caught 3-4 lb Alpers out of Saddle Bag Lake at 10,000 ft. ? I’m planning on another trip this year & I’m going to contact you when I do. Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Spirit ,
Marines got PRC 77s after I left Nam in April ‘68. We had PRC 25s. I used 41s & 47s to talk to fixed & rotor winged aircraft.

Randyhartford,
I have admitted that I screwed up & Fishing Stages wouldn’t miss me if I did leave but you can rest assured NO ONE made me do anything. Enough said.

Thanks Spirit I’ll certainly read it. We’re hysterical getting in from 41/2 hour drive from Mobile but I promise you I’ll read it.
USMC Active duty ‘66-‘70 Alabama National Guard ‘72-‘02. Retired First Sgt. It was an effort to stay in due to all of the surgeries(9) on my rt. shoulder. Guard Admin. stayed on me constantly due to not being deployable due to completely artificial rt shoulder.
I initially was medevaced from Vietnam & spent 6 months in Naval Hospital Millington (Memphis).
Due to injuries & internal parasites I weighed 108 lbs when I got to Memphis. I was a combat radio operator in Nam.

Saw,
Thanks for your comments. I certainly didn’t intend to be mean or ugly but it meant enough to me to say something. I really enjoy the forum. You’ve educated me about the non fishing section. Our society is showing signs of our lax attitudes toward the female gender. Thanks Again

SAW1,
You actually educated me re: the general chit chat forum & I sincerely appreciate that. I’m an old retired First Sgt. & USMC Vietnam vet so I don’t blush easily. I didn’t intend on making anyone angry. I enjoy the occasional humor as much as anyone. I simply think some folks push the envelope a little too much. I really enjoy Fishing Stages as a whole. I’ve been duly chastised & shall do better. By the way I’ve been married to the same lady for 501/2 years. Thanks again for your reprimand.
