Best baitcasting reel under about $150?
Depends on your target fish.... and how you fish for your targets, some reels have a lot of drag, for fighting monsters, some retrieve super fast for top water lures, some are geared lower for crank baits.
Some baitcasters are round, and some are low profile

Fellow Catfishing men how do u guys cut up your bluegills for catfish???
If you cut them, be sure to clip off the dorsal fin on your center section, so it won’t foul your hook set,,lost a big one couple weeks ago by not doing that

Need help with baitcaster
Some reels have a spool adjuster to where you can center the spool, it’s usually opposite side of the tension adjustment knob

Best ways to minimize gut hooking
Cutting the line and leaving the hook in the gut will not kill them, they have done several studies to show this. Most hooks are actually cheap carbon steel, and with their stomach acids they rust quickly. Also quite a few fish will have the ability to work the hook loose and spit it out

Taking fish off of the hook.
Small panfish I use forceps, Catfish I use 16” long handle needle nose. I use circle hooks so most of the time they are hook set in the corner of their mouths
