I am looking for best places to fish near or at least not to far from Baker City. Thank you for your feed back

Pilcher Creek Reservoir, Thief Valley Reservoir, Unity Reservoir, Phillips Reservoir are all easy trout fishing spots

As stated before the Snake has some awesome opportunities, Brownlee being the best bet

You can catch some nice rainbows in the Powder river running through town even!

If you have anymore questions, feel free to message me, I live in Baker City also and would love to help you out!

Yes, there is a difference in 'advertised depth' and actual depth! Just Sayin...RJS

Absolutely RJ!
I'm thinking for the deep divers the actual running depth is somewhere around 5 to 7 feet short of advertised depth
Just my own experience and observations of course!

dyson: I don't think you will find any deep diving crank baits that will go that deep unless you troll with a diving board, or apparatus. But just for casting and retrieving, I don't think they dive more than perhaps 20 to 25 feet. Now, I could be wrong, and will appreciate being corrected. Just Sayin....RJS

I have some Bandit Walleye Deep Diver, advertised to run down to 28 feet deep, I would be surprised if they achieve more than 25 though, I've never caught bottom or grass in 25-28feet of water, no matter how much line I put out or my speed

Really? I wish I lived where I can catch them. How are they cooked?

We do them the same way as Crappie, only much bigger fillets

They definitely rival Crappie for taste and if the water is cold still, they fight pretty hard

Here a basic picture of the setup most commonly used on the Columbia river for Salmon fishing
Change up the lure/bait for different Salmon species, and change up rod/line/flasher size as well as lure/bait and bascially catch anything from bass to walleye, trout and Salmon, pretty much whatever you want to target if you aren't afraid to experiment!

This I know!!! They are huge and numerous... Tried our hand at steelhead fishing and brought in four ( not all the same day).... Salmon are a total unknown to us.

If you're into salmon and want to get fishing

Buy some protroll flashers, some Brads Super Baits(stuffed with canned tuna in oil any store bought will do)Some spinners rigs for desired Salmon species and some cannon ball weights, usually between 10oz and 16oz depending on depth and current your fishing, there's videos on YouTube showing how to tie it all up.
For Kings we run 65lb power pro braid(sinker slider with a couple bead chains on mainline), 80lb floro bumper to flasher, and 40lb floro leader to spinner rig/super bait

If you're gonna buy some stuff and get out trolling, I'd be happy to come down and show you guys what I know, I am no expert but have been a few trips with a buddy who a very highly respected professional guide and he's taught me a lot!

Good luck and tights lines
