Right now I would say fish near the spillway with jigs or jurk baits, that is what I'm using in southern Mi , fish at sunrise or sunset, during the day fishing will be slow

Switch from a 27 to a series 29 battery ,I have a 12 volt 50 lb. Minn Kota and run it. slot will get 3yrs. out of mine

No it won't be fun to turn them in just play by the rules . rules are there for a reason . I've seen under size fish on people's stringers and it ticks me off
