Rhyno. Well we'll stick with catching Bass and ripping lips. Last Bass was trying to get even with me . Had to dig him out of the lilly pads and after getting him in the net and lipping him his mouth covered some of my hand and he really was not ready to corporate. Ouch but fits the badge of honor criteria. Thanks for the reply and again good luck job hunting . I'm a retired Carpenter. Now I occasionally instruct Mental Health First aid courses and Peer to Peer courses through NAMI. out ot Erie Pa. Rest of the time ." Go Fishn'" . Not really I also have a Center with 6rooms that houses guy's re-entering society out of prison. Provide life skills, and support

Grizzly 17 someday I may see ya there. I really enjoy the lake and it's only 20miles or so from East Springfield PA where I live. I'm 5minutes from a steelhead stream called crooked creek. And lake Erie is a few miles away. Steelhead fishing is boring caught enough to satisfy that end . Love the big blow ups on the Bass. Happy fishn' Griz.

Grizzly 17. Where I fish in the north end it averages 4-5 feet and the lake north of the Causeway averages 9' +- south of the Causeway alot deeper channels up to about 30 ft. . It's a fairly large lake so lots of room for you. I'll send you the pic of the area I fish the most N. End known as the mud Flatts. Or the pad fields. Each screen shot has dots for each fish I've taken this year. Hope you can get up this way to enjoy the lake and my favorite spots. "Rip some lips"

Well I against my better judgement got out earlier than usual 7am. Windier than what my weather app was predicting by alot. SW wind not a good wind for Pymatuning North end. Took till 10:30 before I got the Skunk out of my Yack eek 2 1/2# er. Fished a usually productive area of pads with a guy whom I met the other day ,he had a canoe and was battling the wind as well as the bad top water bite. We moved to a closer location after catching a couple fish nearer the launch and a tad less wind. He later headed for home and while he was loading up I found "THAT" spot. 3 more fish one being a 4#5oz that inhaled my frog and wrapped himself around a bunch of Lilly's pad stems. I used my one handed paddle technique to fight the wind and the fish at the same time. Had to dig her out of the pads before I could even get my net under her. What a way to end the day's fishn'. Stay safe everyone and " rip some lips"

Hey Anybass. I have my moments of toooooo quick of sets. Surprise by a hit or not paying as much attention as I could, looking at the surroundings. Any number of things. I have found keeping a tighter straight line between me and the frog and reeling down till I feel the weight of the fish before trying to "rip his lips off" really increases my hook ups especially when pulling a 3to4#er thru lilly pads even then I have to catch myself and not try to horse the fish or I end up with a slimy lilly pad stem and no fish. Lately I've just reel untill one gets stuck and keep enough pressure on it so it doesn't get off then preform what to anyone watching would deem a "what the heck moment"when I paddle my Yack with one hand and keep tension with the other. Certainly not a graceful event by any means but very productive non the less. Recently every fish requires this fine example of one handed paddling which tends to keep other fishermen quite a distance from me.... Go figure . I know this was a little more than you requested and I hope this answered you question. Go rip some lips.

Rhyno, any day you get blessed with chance to fish and share time with other's enjoying the water and outdoors is a true gift. We would all like to catch fish everytime but the lean times just make the multiple fish day's even sweeter. The important part is the sharing of your time with others. Always a pleasure to see your posts. Rip a lip!

I'm putting in some pics of the frog I used it's a small Truscend frog and I will retire it . I have another like this one I've retired two identical frogs already this year. They took a beating. This one size and color has caught well over 100 Bass this year.

DCGravity thanks for your response about the frog legs . The reason I stay with the silicone legs is they don't collect grass and I fish some very grassy/ slop. The other legs would not give the freedom to get a good hook set and tend to be rigid compared to the silicone legs ... Another reason is I put 5or6 strands of Krystal Flash in my legs so when I let it stop in an opening it shimmies with the leg movement but it's soft and blends well with the silicone. Also just not really a fan of the frogs(Lunkerhunt) that purposely look like a frog. I feel that most of the time "frogs" represent baitfish moreso than actual frogs as they are fished in pads ,slop ,and open water . Baitfish will flop up onto pads to escape predators chasing them then flop around a few times trying to get back in the water. That's basically my thought process when I'm fishing my frogs and I've had some success with this style of frog fishing this summer. Hope this answers your inquiry stay safe and have a blast fishn'

One thing I forgot to include and I find very beneficial and increase my hook ups alot 1. Boil your frog for at least a minute...(not in a good pan) unless your the only one in the house. This softens the plastic a little . 2. Bend the hooks up and out a little I have mine parallel with the body then up just a little so when you run your fingers back the frog it just barley catches your skin. Then on the hook set itself a few things improve the hook up. Try to keep the line straight between you and the frog mend the line if possible. Then on a blow up lower the tip reel till you feel the fish and then rip his lips off. By doing this it gives the fish time to get the frog deeper in his mouth . You'll notice this when you start seeing both hooks deep and in the roof of his mouth. And in thick pads this helps you reel better without catching lilly pad stems and loosing fish. Still happens to me every time out I've caught a lot of pad stems and lost lots of fish by quick hook sets. I don't do the count 1 2 3 method so by feeling the fish you'll get better sets. That's why I usually have a cigar in ... So I don't yell out loud and alert every guy I lost another one. It's a matter of respect and personal pride. Hope this helps . Go rip some lips. Good fishn'

Thanks for the question. What brand of yack? ... Also is it a sit on top? Some Box store yacks are not quite as stable. You have on a yack two stabilities the primary and secondary. The primary is when you are just sitting in it and not moving around. If and when you move around and it leans to the side this is when the secondary is suppose to kick in. I was in a less expensive one once and I did not feel stable at all, thought I would tip at any movement would not have used that one at all. I'm a heavy guy 265lbs . My sister jumped in it and loved it. My fishing yack is now a Bonafide Rs 117. Tri hull and I can move , turn, twist, lean, and at no time does it give me any reason to be anything but sable. Supposed to be able to stand up in it but I've not tried that yet. Bad knees and back give me reason to pause. My seat is fairly high and I use it in the highest position all the time without worrying. Even in rough water it's stabil. All yacks are different and I'm sorry to hear you don't feel comfortable in yours. I spend 5-6 days a week in mine and love it. Perhaps you can try a different brand? Alot of places will let you try before you buy. If it's from an individual who has one you may purchase ask them to meet you at a place with some water to try it first. Pay attention to stability and comfort while seated and hopefully you'll find one that suits you so you can enjoy a lot of fun times on the water. Good luck don't give up yet.

Hey Grizzly. Thanks for your inquiry. Be happy to share, I don't believe in keeping secrets. Well maybe my hidden Brook trout stream just sayn'. My main rod is a Shimano Intenza 7' 8 extra heavy fast action. With a Lews KVD 8:3 to1 with Power Pro 30#. This cuts through the pads better than heavier line. Second one is a Shimano heavy fast action 7' 5" reel is a Darwia Tatula 8:1 same Power Pro line. I use this when the pads are sparse and when my shoulder screams at me for casting the other with my imperfect form. My frogs are inexpensive Truscend and Runcle both poppers and regular ones. I do add my own color to look more like a Bluegill than a frog. I do feel especially in pads and slop the action one imparts is more important at least for me. Black , purple , and white belly's with blue spots and red for gills as well as red dot on butt for target. I hope this answers your question feel free to ask anything else or a more in-depth explaination. Good fishn' and Support the Mental Health of all.

I was out yesterday and the area was hot with bait fish Bass were really feeding . The top water was not as good as the day before and I believe that a spinnerbait or other plastics would perhaps caught more fish?? However I'm sticking with my "frogs only" summer trying to get the presentation really honed in. Satisfied with my catches and floating on my Yack. Doesn't get much better . Got 6 in the early afternoon . Stay safe and enjoy the warm sunshine. One pic is a double opps
