I get 4 doe tags every year but only use two or three. Thats all i see. We don't eat any beef

I have the luxury of living on farms and farming about 1100 acres that gives me plenty of places to fill tags. We also eat very little beef I do all my own butchering I also make my own sausage and smoked meats. Lately I started making venison bacon Out of ground meat.

You'll never get a rack shooting buttons.

I know it!! I shoot as many does as I get permits for. It’s the younger generation that I notice shooting the button buck especially when they get grouped up together I try telling them look for the long head and long body. I’ve never hunted for anything other then meat in my 40 plus years of hunting I shot four mounts a 6,8,10,12. And they all have stories to go with them.

We’re not to far from the Nj &PA line if you go further north they get bigger. But like in our area there giving out 40,000 doe tags for the county. Some guys shoot everything they see even the small button bucks.

He weighed 173 on the pole we don’t get a lot of big ones like that weight wise, mostly 110-140 average for around here.

I'm watching the national news and saw all the damage from the storm along the eastern seaboard.

Just askin' our east coast FS users if everybody got through okay today. Hopefully, no personal or serious property damage.

Let us know folks.

I keep them frozen until I’m ready to use them.then I have a long needle like a ham brine needle, I run through them then I run my line thru the needle with a small treble hook snelled on it up tight to the bottom of my (for lack of a better description) dead minnow and troll it or cast and retrieve it.
I don’t have any rigged up or I would send you a pic

I use the kosher salt to stop them from losing some of there color and freeze them as fast as I can

When you say cure them what. Does that mean?
How long do you cure them and then do you freeze them until you are going to use them

I appreciate the help
I have so many die from where I get them to the lake, 20 minutes I thought maybe if I salted some I could save as little money

Tired of the jet skis, wake boarders and big cruisers, so I trailered for 45 minutes up lake to launch.
I fished shallow docks with 1/2 oz jig/paca craws trailers, black buzz bait with gold blade and 10” plum power worm on a standup jig head.
I had 7 solid Kprs, 2 in the four lb range. My best five weighed at least 15lbs.
Did not fish anything over 10’ deep; mainly flooded grass and shallow docks.

Congrats nice fish sounds like you had yourself a great day on the pond.
