Son Gregg and I headed to one of the local waters for a bit this morning. We each caught 3 smallish bass and quite a few pickerel swimming 4” Keitech’s. We both lost a decent bass right at the bank, both looked to be a bit better than those we landed, maybe 2 and 1/4# or so. Tradition that we get out and fish on my birthday and make sure not to catch the skunk 🦨. The mallard pictured had 12 ducklings about a week ago but must have lost 2 to attrition of some sort. Got this card from my BIL, thought it was quite appropriate.

Went carping in the 64 degree Millstone River on the south shore in West Windsor, NJ, this evening in the cold rain with a light northwest wind. 12 cars 🚙 were in the parking lot when I arrived. Someone was fishing in my lake spot again like Sunday, so I went to the river. Found canned whole kernel corn 🌽 on the ground and in the water. Intruders took over all of my fishing 🎣 spots. I’m most likely to catch nothing on all of my fishing trips. NJ is too crowded. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught a 22” common carp. A spot jumper came over to my fishing 🎣 spot, then I gave him my fish. Caught an 18” common carp and the spot jumper returned with a crowd, then started fishing next to me. I gave him my second fish, then left. Aldi’s corn is great carp bait for 63 cents per can.
