Son Gregg and I headed to one of the local waters for a bit this morning. We each caught 3 smallish bass and quite a few pickerel swimming 4” Keitech’s. We both lost a decent bass right at the bank, both looked to be a bit better than those we landed, maybe 2 and 1/4# or so. Tradition that we get out and fish on my birthday and make sure not to catch the skunk 🦨. The mallard pictured had 12 ducklings about a week ago but must have lost 2 to attrition of some sort. Got this card from my BIL, thought it was quite appropriate.

Happy Bday Bk. Nice looking fish you and Gregg caught. Some of the best days of catching many/big fish are on rainy days, just never know.

Went carping in the 64 degree Millstone River on the south shore in West Windsor, NJ, this evening in the cold rain with a light northwest wind. 12 cars 🚙 were in the parking lot when I arrived. Someone was fishing in my lake spot again like Sunday, so I went to the river. Found canned whole kernel corn 🌽 on the ground and in the water. Intruders took over all of my fishing 🎣 spots. I’m most likely to catch nothing on all of my fishing trips. NJ is too crowded. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught a 22” common carp. A spot jumper came over to my fishing 🎣 spot, then I gave him my fish. Caught an 18” common carp and the spot jumper returned with a crowd, then started fishing next to me. I gave him my second fish, then left. Aldi’s corn is great carp bait for 63 cents per can.

Nice fish, pics and info Bands… Sounds like a lot of people enjoying fishing in Jersey.

I just got back from a week with Jim Sargent and Cindy Harvey at Lake Powell. Of the five days I was there we fished three. Between us we boated 102 fish, mostly smallmouth, we caught some small largemouth, I caught a walleye and Jim caught a dessert plate sized bluegill. We didn’t land any monster sized fish but the time on the water and the ferocity of the fighting smallies is just heart pumping fun!!! I have been blessed to have such friends as this.

Nice fish and pics, looks like a fun time had by all. 102 fish is a lot of catching, you three did good! Thanks for sharing.

Went out today about 9 am the launch was packed, this much I expected for a Saturday, my first fish came rather quickly and I ended with 9 for the day . Mostly used a black popper frog because of the wind and rough conditions,. 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🇺🇲🇺🇲🙏

Nice bass Andy, looks like another fine day of catching.

Nice LM, good catching, pic and info.

Going by the carp pic, with a length of 20"s, and weight of 1.72 lbs. I'll guess your bass at around 3 lbs. It does have a bigger belly.

Correction, the scale is set at kg and 1.72 kg = 3.79 lbs., so I’ll guess your bass at 5-6 lbs.

Great set up both boat and the truck. Looks like you and your son had some fine fish fighting opportunities with those carp. The weather looks nice too. Just can't beat an old nightcrawler for fishn'. A guy can catch anything on one. I'm glad you got out and enjoyed the day, good to see the smiles in your pics. Thanks for sharing. 🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🇺🇲🇺🇲🙏

Thanks Andy. We had a fun day, and the carp gave a good fight.

I saw your last fishing post when you mentioned it was raining and most other boats departed the lake. Good for you continuing onward and crushing bass, nice ones at that...good catching!

I’m aware of most people’s disdain for pickerel but this one takes the cake! Caught probably 12-13 snot rockets along with the monster pictured along with 3 bass at 12” or so, all taken on weightless 6” Culprits. Hard to believe that the rocket pictured would entertain such an offering.

Nice going Bk, outdoors on a beautiful day and caught a few.

What I got done today . Marking out the glue are and screw holes.
Sorry I didnt get any pictures of the glue up. I had to get it all spread and screwed together before the glue dried. Now I need to let it dry for a day.

Looking good…another step complete!

Took the puppy to the beach this morning and let my fishing rod tag along. First bite was a Bluefish and the second was a Bonnet Head Shark. Ocean was flat and the dog is getting use to the water.

Looks like a nice day for surf fishing and for Lily too. Good catching, nice pics and that pier is out there a ways.

Nice day out DV.
Not everyone enjoys catching carp but they can be fun to catch.

I've never been to Blue Marsh. 120 miles from me via 81.
👍🎣

Yes, a nice day out Grizz, it was warm and sunny for a change. I enjoy being on the water and like the fight a fish gives so it does not matter to me/my son what species it is. All the fish go back in the water to be caught again unless someone fishing with me or near me wants to take them.

120 miles would be a long haul, local fishing is convenient…
