Where have the stripers been around Plum Island? June used to be primo month. Plenty of bait around. slow bite.

Caught a couple of schoolies with chunk mack down at the sandbar about an hour and a half before high tide. Didn't see anybody catching anything big. Might be because of the heavy rip. Struck out at Nahant and Rumney Marsh. A friend told me they aren't hitting hard down at the CC canal. Hope it picks up soon. Good luck.

Have not fished for stripers but once or twice in N.H. - places I've heard or read about (from north to south) are
the Great Bay and the estuary,
Odiorne State Park, Rye Beach, the
jetty/channel at Hampton Beach, and the jetty/Merrimack River at Salisbury Beach !

If you like surf fishing on the beach, then cross the Merrimack into Newburyport, Ma. and fish Plum
PIsland !

Plum Island is my favorite place for stripers. My friend has a house out there and the ocean is her backyard. There's a sandbar right out behind the house, and the stripers race through there 2 hours before to 2 hours after high tide.

Blue sharks get tremendous in size, but it's meat is only good for cat food. Mako is the real prize. Lost count on how many cod and haddock I've lost to blue sharks.

I use 2 Penn International 130's with 5'6" Penn rods with 100# braid, 20' of 100# mono for a leader, a dodger, and 3' steel leader. You never know when you might hook up with a white or mako.

Each of us, in all the years we've been doing this, have caught yellow fin. No blue fin yet, but I'm upping the game with a drone with a remote camera. I hope that will help finding the big boys. I have a power winch and a makeshift boom to get them on the boat. I also put a harness on the seat in the Jon boat.

My friend and I take our boat out into the Atlantic in mid September. We drag our Jon boat behind and go out 50 to 60 miles. One of us gets in the Jon boat and we start trolling in the warm water of the Gulf Stream. If we get lucky, we hook into a yellow or bluefin tuna. One of us releases the tow line on the Jon boat, the lucky guy in the Jon boat spins his seat around, and experiences the fight of his life. If anyone truly wants to experience man vs. fish, then go on a Nantucket sleigh ride. There is nothing else that measures close to it.

Already caught my bucket list fish. From now on everything I catch is sauce for the goose!

Wherever there are lilypads in 2 to 3 feet of water. Use Berkeley PowerBait worms with a splitshot, a bead, and a bullet weight a foot or two away from your hook. Cast your line out, wait a minute, then you can start a slow retrieve in. If that doesn't work, go to the local bait shop and buy the largest shiners they have and let them do all the work.

Hampton, North Hampton, or Rye are all good, but it's a little early. You want to fish sandbars 2 hours before to 2 hours after high tide. Plugs, chunk mackerel, and sand eels all work good.

If you have a boat, canoe, or kayak, I would strongly recommend East or West Lake in Halifax, MA. There a lots of lilypad locations that you can work with soft plastics or live bait. There are some big fish in there, so be ready for the fight of your life!

I have been using Mitchell reels for 60 years and they have never let me down. They are reasonably priced, and if they do break down, parts are readily available. I use St. Croix rods for trout and bass fishing. This is good gear that will give you good results and will last a lifetime.

I would like to take my knife and go to work on the damn dogfish that caused the tangle! Lol! In the old days we would put them on the rail and push their snout back to break their neck, but they are a protected species now. Dogfish urinate through their skin, and we protect them. There is something inherently wrong with that!
