I use a basic top and bottom rig with between a 2 to 1 ounce sinker. I like the gold long shank spinner hooks in a #4 or so in the rivers. In the spillways a small jig with grass shrimp, worms or small minnows with a bobber works great. When they get thick in the spillways just a jig and various rubber grubs work great. Some guys use a tandem rig with 2 jigs.
I started there but nothing then moved down river some to the twin bridges
Caught these in the upper Chester River
..no limit in Maryland rivers but my personal limit is 25.
Got into a ness of white perch after giving up on the yellow neds. Kept 19 fatties
Most of the upper parts of the rivers in Maryland and Delaware are loaded with white perch. Got 19 yesterday
Nice perch
Looks like a pond?.. Hoping they start running in the Chester soon.
Welcome Bob..good luck with the fishing..i hear the bass and pike are starting to bite good around Sussex county.
Ive fished that river from Christiana to the Delaware before. You never know what can be floating in there...ive seen cars sunk behind Duross many years ago. You could only see the tops at low tide..heck they might still be in there.
That entrance to the marsh can be tricky with a fast swirling tide but at times can be very good for school size stripers on different plugs.
I keep a log book of all my fishing crabbing and hunting trips . I can always look back and see how i did at certain times.
I love white perch. Some of the best eating..nice going
Nice report..love the weakfish. What boat did you go on?
How did you do? My last trip was to OC Maryland in October for seabass. Lots of fish but with the new regs we had lots of throwbacks that would of been keepers in 2021.
Thanks. Ive been fishing the Chester in Millington for over 50 years. Used to be our first fishing trip of the year for yellow perch. Usually the end of February or early March.
