My sense of humor. Was channelling Fred Sanford from Sanford and Son. I don't think anything like that will ever happen but would serve to enlighten folks if it did.

RJ, perhaps Admin could make your post (or something similar) required (or suggested) reading before allowing new members to post. Then when someone posts "Fish report Mississippi river" you could just refer them back to a general "how to." There could even be an icon similar to "Reply", "Quote Reply", "Report Issue" where you just click on the icon that says "Hey Dummy" and it automatically sends a response to the ill-informed to help them understand. Not being elitist, just have watched many folks ask questions that either sound rude or...... choose your own word here.

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any Central California fishermen or women around Fresno.

Hello Troutchaser, I'm John and live in Oakhurst. I bass fish in the local lakes but don't trout fish. Just a personal preference.

Absolute respect and honor for those that served and those that supported them during their service. My hats off to you all.

Hello,

We are heading up for the 4th of July weekend. Is there any parking near Willow Cove. I will be shore fishing and stay at the Resorts Cabins.

Thanks for any help.

Generally there is parking depending on which way you go in. If you are on 274 you can turn down a road just past the road into the Pines that has a parking area. If your staying in the Pines cabins you can probably walk there although there are a lot of private residences that might prevent you from getting to the cove. Fourth of July is the busiest this lake ever gets and it is busy. You will not be on the forest service side so its less crowded but more areas that are private.

Well I can't express much of an opinion on that but my Ultrex control board went out about a month ago, three months after the three year warranty expired. I thought I had an ace in the hole because my credit card extends warranties for a year. I looked it up and the credit card warranty excludes vehicles and any equipment used on a vehicle, including boats. So much for that. Anyway my repair place was backed up for three weeks (its been 4 now) and I thought I'll just buy a new one and have a spare. No can do. Even Amazon doesn't have them. I bought a Powerglide Pro but my boat is still in the shop because after waiting this long, I want the Ultrex working too, although the Powerglide Pro has the GPS anchor feature as well. Garmin and Lowrance have them too but they are even more expensive. Oh well, I can't spend it when I'm dead.

I normally stay out of this stuff but California just v**ed to allocate $2 billion dollars to provide free healthcare for non-citizens. Citizens, on the other hand, in one fashion or another, have to buy theirs. In the history of the United States, not one politician was ever elected to represent non-citizens, not one, not ever, never. And yet here we are.

I'm thinking the Kelly Plowboy's might be better around lilypads. Woefully scarce in CA.

I have some of those and they have been around for a looonnnggg time. I don't use them anymore as I have found most bass will attack what they see as the head of the bait, usually they are not tail biters, other panfish, possibly. Having said that, I'm not sure why wacky rigging works. It's not to say that Kelly's won't work, I just don't think they are as "wiggly" as more modern soft baits. As for purple, I'd say that's my "go to" color or more perhaps Morning Dawn. Some see no benefit in colors, I absolutely believe in them, at least for high pressured lakes. I'm no authority though, and I don't own stock in any of them, just offering my observations. Good luck.

Absolutely, I made a simple bracket and mounted it to the bottom of the seat hinge bracket. I then mounted the rod holder to that. I drilled two holes in the seat hinge bracket and used self-tapping screws. I also ran a bolt through the rod holder (as a stop) to control the depth of the umbrella.

OK, time to report I borrowed (stole) your idea. Thanks for that. I looked for a similar plastic rod holder but couldn't find one. I adapted a slightly different one and like how it came out. As I "borrow", I also offer..... I made a rod holder out of abs pipe and glue that I use fairly often. It slides over my seat post and if I'm needing to set the rod down to use both hands, the holder is right below my seat. Have to be careful to watch where the line is though, I got it in my trolling motor once and snapped the rod in several pieces. My boat is in the shop with a trolling motor problem so this is my therapy until I get it back....lol.

Thanks for sharing that. I like it. It gets brutally hot here in the summer and I'm going to have to do something as I'm not a resilient as I used to be. I have hung onto an adjustable pivoting base that was used on the base of a satellite dish with the idea that I was going to do something on the deck but I like your idea better. Tomorrow I'll look at the bottom of my seats and see what I can do.

P.S. My whole family is from Wausau but only two cousins are still there. Beautiful country and good fishing. Thanks again.

I finally took a picture of the rod holder I mounted on the back of one of my seats which I use as an umbrella holder for rainy, or bright sunny days in the middle of the day. It can be flipped over to be used as a rod holder, too.
A 62” golf umbrella provides plenty of coverage.

Would you be willing to show us how you mounted it to the back of your seat. Asking for a friend......

Its been awhile since I've been out on the briny but you can look up newspaper fish reports and they post what the charter boats report. As well, there are charter boat websites and Western Outdoor News that have a lot of information. Good luck.
