Big A is correct the strain of golden trout in the photo was developed in wv. I think the only natives we have are a smaller brook trout. Biggest part of our trout are stocked by the state.

Wv starts every January stocking trout in its streams and lakes they do this once a month throughout may and in may they do what they call the gold rush stocking it’s a all gold trout stocking in all of its lakes and streams some of the gold trout will exceed 5 lbs its quite fun to catch a limit of gold trout. They do this to get more people interested in fishing.

I’ve eaten all kinds fresh and salt water my pick would be northern puffers plumbob sounds like a salt water guy I’ll bet he’s had them.
