I used to fish the Petit Amite quite a bit. Nothing of bragging size, but plenty of sunfish - and turtles. They were mostly red-ear sliders. Got an occasional mullet and carp. Quit fishing there after West Nile became a thing. Then I moved. Tangipahoa should be a good bet, I agree.
Wishing someone would invent a stronger loop knot, though.

I live in west Mobile. Been out of the fishing loop lately, due to heart problems. On the mend, though.
Previous experience has been mostly at Cedar Point pier before the McRaes sold it, and a private pier or two (that have been sold, since).
Interested in surf fishing. Wondering if it's worth the trip to Gulf Shores versus Dauphin Island?
