Visiting my son in Sandpoint and taking my 12 yr old grandson along. He loves to fish and I'd like to know if there are any fishing guide services that do more than troll around the lake. He'd be fine catching anything, he doesn't care. He fished Lake Ontario, St Lawrence River, and is just excited to fish. I remember when I was like that. Anyway, I just retired and am moving to Sandpoint but all my stuff, including boat is still in PA. Appreciate the help.
I caught northern Pike 25 yrs ago in Lake Couer d'Alene and the chain lakes. Try as they will I doubt they'll eradicate them.
Replacing the floor in one of my boats. 3/4 marine plywood cost me $129.00 for a 5x12 sheet. Nice stuff but heavy and expensive. 4 coats of oil based spar varnish. Don't want to do it again.
It's certainly true. Idaho fish and game determined that pike and walleye are invasive in the lake and are doing all they can to eliminate them. It's a shame.
Caught my biggest pike in Black lake. 46 in 17 lbs. My son lives in Sandpoint and I'm moving there this year. Getting crowded though.
I think that's what I have here in PA. When you dig them up they go crazy, flipping and wiggling all over the place. They break a lot easier than normal worms.
Delaware river is really deceiving when it comes to current. Years ago my brother was going upstream under power and a discarded anchor line got caught in his prop and flipped the boat. My dad was with him and almost drowned. My uncle, who is a scuba diver and a couple of his buddies dove in the area and found numerous anchors wedged in the rocks with cut lines. Statistically speaking the Delaware is the deadliest river in Pa.
I was told in PA it's illegal to fish over beds. I know some say it doesn't hurt anything but notice there are always sunnies or other fish trying to steal the eggs. If you take the female off the nest for 5 minutes how many eggs can they eat?
Can someone post a picture of the dancing eel. Not sure I've ever seen one.
Beno eel. When we started fishing Canada we were told by another fisherman that the Beno eel is all you need. We all loaded up with them and never caught a fish with them. They sure look good swimming through the water.
A bought a farm in PA that had a nice trout stream flowing through it. Turns out it was loaded with water snakes. I killed a few big ones and ate them. My sister in law loved them and from then on if we saw any big ones we killed them and she are them. I've eaten rattlesnake and thought that the water snake tasted different, stronger, than rattlesnake.
Yeh, I kinda figured had to go another route. I have Mr. Twisters that are close in color. Sprayed them with gulp spray and letting them soak. Going to try them tomorrow. Really appreciate the help from everyone, now it's time to fish.
The PA fish commission ties Christmas trees together and places them on the ice. When the ice melts they sink and become lake structure that, at times, hold lots of fish. Some of them are within reach of shore fisherman. Went over them in a boat in low water conditions and they look like they are decorated for Christmas all over again.
Guess I'm going to try something else, hopefully I'll find a bait that works. Thank you all.
