My arms are sore ,caught more catfish than I care to count some white bass and some good hybrid stripes and a couple buffalo suckers. We went through 3 tubs of chicken livers and they wasn’t very good livers they had been frozen. It’s hard to say how many fish we caught all together today but it was a blast. The wife said that i stink when I walked in the door and I told her that was the smell of success she said that what you always say lol. I told my buddy yesterday that i thought we should be able to catch some hybrids. We were rigging Carolina stile with 1oz egg sinkers and #1 eagle claw baitholder hooks. Using 30 lb braid and a 15 lb mono leader. We was fishing under a dam and it took 2 anchors to hold the boat. Them stripes really pull hard in the current. You can see the water coming over the dam in the picture of the catfish.

I don't get it...Ben Gay night? Did you hurt the butt hole somehow?

Reminds me of meeting Ben Gay III (the 3rd) in the post office, a seriously funny story.

I had an old clothes rack on wheels that I was gonna toss out, then I thought maybe I could repurpose it 🤔 so here's the results, it worked out better than I expected.
So what ya'll think
It holds 16 rods

Nice idea, the key being a nice clothes hanger

I would trust what the company says about their own equipment more than what Amazon has to say.

Come on, the company representation on Amazon is the company, they literally are the "company store" with an Amazon presence...you can access the Cadence store through Amazon, I ordered a super high end rod through the online store presence.

Since you said this I spent some time trying to access a Cadence site presence and can't find one, all the sales and references to them by other sources refers to the drag on the Lux and Primo as 36lbs, I can only go by that as opposed to an unsubstantiated claim that this is wrong.

Looking at multiple reviews of the Primo it is quickly getting a well deserved reputation as being a hardcore value in high end reels, I'm not seeing anyone reviewing them saying anything bad, a lot of "this is my favorite reel to cast with" type comments.

Who you gonna believe, people who have them or people that don't? This is how you find the sleeper deals... referrals.

According to their website none of their reels have a 36 lb. drag system. The Lux 20 is rated at only 16 lbs.

Funny, looking at the Amazon listings both the Lux and Primo reels list 36lbs, I'm looking at it as we speak, and this is associated with the Cadence store...try looking at that

chinese?

Absolutely, China owns the manufacturing of much of the highest grade components used in military products, so then it's a no brainer for them to be making the highest grade fishing reel bearings that they sell to reel manufacturers in other countries like Daiwa and Shimano.

The Primo reel feels like a Stella because chances are it's using the same bearings.

Hello Griz. You hit on an interesting subject. Number of bearings in a reel. A couple years ago I was speaking with a major reel manufacturer representative & he stated that he would rather have 4 good bearings in a reel than 6 just so-so bearings. I totally agree.
There is a guy in Tulsa, a minister, who overhauls reels for use in distance casting contest. He turns an ambassador 7000 into a work of art. After he's polished & honed plus machined spacers he replaces the bearings with aircraft instrument grade bearings. Those bearings cost well over $100 each. It can cost $1000 or more for customizing a reel. I don't have that kind of money to spend on a fishing reel but I'm not trying to see how far I can cast. Tight lines.
Hello Griz. You hit on an interesting subject. Num... (show quote)

I agree as well. You hit on an interesting reality here, which is the grade of things like bearings, my guess is that China has a lock on the fine bearing industry, meaning those that are running the highest military specs. For those who understand the nature of military grade and the fact that high grades for the military will cost severely exorbitant amounts of money whereas private industry can access the same or even better quality for way less money, especially in high volume numbers for production. The manufacturer that orders 10,000 bearings could get the same bearings that the custom guy gets a few bearings for at $100 each for less than a few bucks a bearing.

What we are talking about is higher bearing counts that are actually high grade bearings versus lower grade bearings. One of the things China has done for a couple of decades is subsidize components manufactured in China for Chinese products so that they can undercut other country's products. I am in the high end stereo market, and China was manufacturing amps and preamps that performed better than products costing tens of thousands more. I was all over some that cost three or four grand that sounded better than $30k products. They were using the same exact name brand capacitors and components that were being sold to high end manufacturers in other countries at prices that were less than the wholesale of their parts. Audiophile products use some Chinese capacitors and chips that US manufacturers pay hundreds of dollars for and the Chinese government subsidizes their industries...this allows them to use a $300 Auricap (manufacturer's cost) that costs them five bucks.

I believe I'll pass on buying one of those also 🤣🤣.

They kinda got everyone so focused on bearing count.

The most expensive baitcasters I own cost $200.
Got 2 on close out for $130 for both.
Several years ago looking for a 5.1:1 ratio baitcaster I purchased a kastking white max for $55.

It has preformed extremely well.
👍

I don't know if you caught the part where I have had the $800 Japanese Stella that has the best bearings there are, as well as a bunch of the $200 to $400 "mid" grades...this feels like a Stella, and that wouldn't be the case if they had crappy bearings going on here, and I actually tried a couple of KastKings that were not even close to this. The reason they are touting bearing count is that it makes a difference, and these Cadence reels are in another category that exceeds the price point. The other factor here is the carbon drags that not only feel like silk, but are rated at 36lbs which is higher than I've seen on 2000 class reels. To me a quality reel is about the drag, the better the drag the bigger the fish that can be successfully landed using everything the line strength will deliver. A smooth drag equates to a more useable drag.

The beauty of Amazon is that you can send something that doesn't meet your expectations back hassle free. Last year when I was buying the Daiwa Lexi line counter reels for trolling I wanted to try a Shimano that cost about $250 which was a hundred dollars more than the Daiwas, I immediately sent it back as it felt like junk compared to the Daiwa reels. If it was a better reel I'd have four of them instead of four Lexi's, it wasn't about the money.

I'm 100% sure that anyone used to lower to mid priced reels (which is most) would be blown away by the way these feel, which is why I posted this...and guys that are used to the best will also be impressed.

By the way, the higher end reels like Shimano and Daiwa are using Chinese made high end bearings, which is what can give the Chinese reel maker a serious price edge...I wouldn't doubt but what the Primo is sporting Stella bearings, it's what it feels like.

They look nice, have plenty of bearings, higher drag, priced well and the bail looks heavy duty (thicker than most). A win-win deal…they should be very nice to fish with. Thank you for sharing.

The bails are silky smooth and release with a super smooth feeling snap

I bought some different budget reels from Amazon looking for sleepers, high bearing counts and stellar reviews being the focus...

I got a Cadence Lux 2000 last year to go with a higher end Cadence pole, it's a high tech pole that feels like something costing hundreds more. The Lux reel has 9+ 1 bearings and an off the chart 36lb drag system...these are Stella smooth, no exaggeration for under $60

I went ahead and tried the even higher end Primo that has 12+ 1 bearings that is $90 or so and it is incredible for the money, it actually would be incredible for hundreds more.

I've had Japanese version Stella reels that listed at $800+, I'm telling you I cannot tell the difference, they feel unbelievably smooth in all regards, including the way the bail snaps when you cast.

It’s been 50+ years ago. I have seen. I cannot explain it not sure what I believe about it but my whole family saw it and it was phenomenal.

I grew up in what has been known as a hotspot for sightings for decades in a rural area outside of Vacaville...still is. My friend and I were sleeping outside in sleeping bags in the summer and we watched upwards of 50 lights that were doing crazy things speed wise for over an hour. They would flit around all across the sky, then just stop wherever they were, they'd form up in groups, stop, then go crazy. The speeds were insane as they covered the whole sky and could change direction without slowing down at all...not the only time I've seen them, and don't think I knew anyone that hadn't that lived out there.

Went carping in 78 degrees flooded Colonial Lake this evening during thunderstorms. Wore my rain gear for the third time in the past 3 days. Threw out a can of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught 4 brown bullheads to 14.5”, 2 bluegills, a common carp and a painted turtle 🐢 with Bowl and Basket whole kernel corn on 12 lb test line. Landed 113 turtles this year. I am applying for my fourth NJ Skillful Angler Recognition Award in the past 2 days with a bullhead. Took lots of photos.

And you want to catch 100+ turtles because....?

Do you eat them?

Lake Trout are voracious eaters which is why they get so big. They have had a real bad effect on the cutthroat population in Yellowstone Lake too. Kokanee only love for 3 years then they spawn and die so theLakers could do real harm to a large population real fast.

The funny thing is Kokanee started out being planted to act as feed for Macks and other large trout in many reservoirs...then they took on their own fishing appeal

I have found that, for me anyway, that the survival rate for Kokanee as a “catch and release” is very minimal. The retrieval is very stressful for them. And they are not as hardy as most other fish. Therefore I keep all that I catch, to fulfill my limit… 🐟on

Exactly, they have fragile jaws, even the little ones taste fantastic, it's whether you fry up a fish apiece or one that's big enough for both of you. Kokes are pretty much my favorite eating fish, but then there is Crappie and White Bass filets. It's not a fish to release so you can get bigger ones

Sounds great. When u going? We might head up there one day next week, but I’m going in my buddy’s boat and he’s a bass fisherman!

We were going up to the Ft Bragg area Friday thru Sunday to visit friends that just bought a house on the ocean, but she got really sick so we aren't going...my wife told me to book us somewhere so Berryessa it is, we got cabin 19 Friday and Saturday night, and we'll fish Sunday morning as well...there were two of the 4 person cabins which I thought was pretty good for such short notice.

I'll still be looking to get up again in the next week or so, and Thanksgiving weekend as well
