You're absolutely right on the eating size. I learn that the hard way. One time I had some in the 8 to 10 lb range and several smaller ones. I gave them away and kept the bigger ones. Big learning experience, the big ones flavor lacked a lot to desire, tasted like mud. I would like to have the feel and fight in bringing a 20 pounder in.

I've noticed a lot of fisherman asking for info on specific fishing techniques, rigging, accessories, etc.
This past winter I have watched a lot of fishing videos on YOU TUBE and it has been very enjoyable and educational. Some of the catfishing videos fishermans are Catfish Dave, Kayak Catfishing, Hagen Grubb Fishing, Dieter Melhorn fishing. These guys specialize in 20, 30, 40 lb catfish and up. The smallish one they consider "dinks"and time consuming. Now, these guys Richard Gene fishing machine, Jimmy Houston Outdoors, Carp and Catfish, specialize in crappie, bluegill, carp, and bass. All of them at one time or the other will have a video on what equipment they are using and how to rig them up. If you want a different fisherman just type in Fishing Videos. I've fished all my life and the biggest catfish I've caught on rod & reel is 11 lbs, after watching these videos I feel I have a good chance of catching the 20 pounder this year.

Kansas you are allowed 2 poles. You are allowed the third pole by purchasing a permit.

Kansas is legal. You are allowed 25 hooks. The trotline must be tagged with your Ks license number. Several restrictions to follow, not to be within 150 yards on any dam and checked every 24 hours.

The first thing I would do is to take a boat with a fish locator and make several passes that includes your
frontage. This would tell your depth, structure, and if any fish is visible. I wouldn't worry about the fish so much being visible but the depth and structure would let you know of the possibilities to come.

Crystalbeachbum,

So sorry in being late getting back in touch with you. New to this forum I lost your e-mail and finally figured out how to retrieve it. Anyway, I would definitely be interested in more information and pictures if possible of your boat.

Thank You, Kscatfisherman

From years of experience, I always throw out using a normal weight and count the number of seconds till you fill weight hit bottom.
I allow 1 foot per second. I've found this to be fairly accurate and giving you an idea on depth. At least, this will give you and idea on where to test your bobber depth.

Having trouble deciding whether to purchase a Frameless Pontoon Boat 285fpb or the Stealthstalker STS10.
Those that have either one of these what are your pro and cons.

Thanks,

Will be saving the rib bones from the buffalo to deep fry. Buffalo are white meat and taste ok, the rib cage is an extra delicacy with no worries amount the smaller bones.

Thanks,

I'm looking for a fillet knife that will cut thru the rib bones on buffalo and carp.

Do they make a heavy duty fillet knife like this? Is there some other power tool I need to be considering?

Thank You,
Kenneth
