I don't think the setup is correct. My hook five works great up to 600 ft. It definitely takes awhile to set properly. You tube was a big help.

They just changed the area 6 days open for fishing, Wednesday thru Saturday starting today. Check WDFW emergency rules for July. Area 5 is now open everyday.

Don't know your area, definitely start learning the marine ares and the rules as they are somewhat complicated. Always check WDFW emergency rule changes on line, the rules change fast. If you can trailer your boat there are so many possibilities. Good luck.

I totally agree, crab theft happens more than pot theft. Overnight soaks are the most likely times.

Not really sure about Sekiu, I have been fishing Port Angeles and it has been good for Kings and OK for smaller Coho. Pretty sure Sekiu is every other day and I suspect they will suspend kings soon. My friends have done well at Freshwater bay.

There is some theft, most (stolen pots) are carried away in strong current. I find three or four every year tangled in kelp in 500 feet of water. Use plenty of good line and weighted pots and plenty of bouys. Good luck.

The coho have arrived early this yeR,not huge but there are some decent fish to be had.Cop car coho killers on a down rigger or even a deep six diver. I like the purple haze flasher. Check out some you tube vids. for tips on setup.

Update, we are catching some silvers up around 8lbs around Ediz hook. Flashers and coho killers 60 to 100 feet. They are a little early but there are quite a few mixed in with the kings.

You need to be west of Ediz hook, Port Angeles to be able to retain kings, one hatchery per day. The larger Coho usually show up in August.
