Find the baitfish and you’ll find the bass. Yesterday I started fishing the rocky shorelines but couldn’t find any fish. I started moving into deeper water and still didn’t see any baitfish or any other fish on my graphs. It wasn’t until I got into 32ft of water did I see my first signs of life. At 35ft I came across large numbers of baitfish and bass. I used a 1 oz jigging spoon and caught a couple in about an hour. I switched to a drop shot with a 4” finesse worm and caught seven and lost 4 or five more. I only caught spotted bass. The largemouths on Martin continue to elude me. There were no big fish caught as the average size was no bigger than 1 1/2lbs.

This is the fishing section from the honeymoon island website. You are good to go. Get some shrimp and sand crabs for bait and see what you can catch.

Whiting will be off the beaches. For me bait of choice is either live or frozen shrimp.
Good luck.

Are you fishing on beach or bayside? Also try the passes. Live bait such as shrimp, pin fish are good for most fish. Reds will hit pieces of crab. Good luck.

Bought a pontoon boat last year and fished the MBARA tournament as well as a few snapper locations during the season, but I haven't seen any comments from that area.
I'm new to ocean fishing and have only been out 5 or 6 miles but was able to put some snapper in the boat. Also trolled for Kings but only caught Mackerel and Trout. What is the trick for Kings? Further out?

The mackerel you caught just guessing was Spanish mackerel. King mackerel are larger and off shore. Good luck.

I have not fished Big hickory, but ever other past going toward ft Meyers. Activity depends on the tide, but snapper, sheepshead, permit, snook, reds are the usual fish I catch. I would check with a local bait shop to find out what is running during your stay. Good luck.

Not sure what this little thing is. We released it, but it sure looks pretty.

Looks like everyone is correct. The speckled hind, also known as the calico grouper, kitty mitchell or strawberry grouper, is a species of marine ray-finned fish, a grouper from the subfamily Epinephelinae which
