Different captains today, but same locations with the exception of a couple of different spots. The whole bait operation went much more smoothly and fast today, but I timed the actual trip to the fishing grounds - 1 1/2 hours. But you can’t go wrong fishing sea mounts, it’s a natural fish attraction, so if they’re there and biting……..

Like yesterday the first rod down and we’re bit, only difference is we all reeled in because what bit was a blue marlin. To make a long story short, 45 minutes later and the 100”, 100lb. Marlin was in the boat. The captain (different one than yesterday) handled the boat very well, kept up with the fish as it ran and wore the fish down while Joe kept the line tight and gained line when he could. He was wiped afterwards……

That was the only keeper our boat landed, had numerous hits but all came unbuttoned or cut the line. I did manage to pull a 6-7’ gray shark up to the boat that we cut loose and the other boat landed 3 nice yellow tail, also with missed opportunities. All in all an exciting day. We did take some of the yellow tail and marlin back to the hotel restaurant and had them prepare dinner for us- yellow tail sashimi and ceviche with grilled marlin steaks. Fantastic meal……………….

Looking forward to the rest of the week!

Great day on the water Denny! Nice catch on the marlin and those look like some nice yellowtail. Ones that big put up a really good fight.

Nice bass and even though they’re not large, nine is a good number of bass to catch.

Thx DV, I am just more of a quality over quantity type of fisherman.

Can you say "Same O Same O"? Long story short on my trip to Skinner this morning. Caught 9 total and all were small. Me thinks Stella has lost his groove. Better find it before the M&G, or maybe just maybe I am saving the big one for Clearlake

Maiden voyage in my boat yesterday, got skunked in the boat, but got one from the dock before I left.

Great that you can finally get out on the boat. My maiden voyage this year had the same result. It will be better on the next outing. What kind of fish did you get from the dock?

I just got back from a week with Jim Sargent and Cindy Harvey at Lake Powell. Of the five days I was there we fished three. Between us we boated 102 fish, mostly smallmouth, we caught some small largemouth, I caught a walleye and Jim caught a dessert plate sized bluegill. We didn’t land any monster sized fish but the time on the water and the ferocity of the fighting smallies is just heart pumping fun!!! I have been blessed to have such friends as this.

Awesome trip Wulffie, always loved the shear beauty of that lake. Grats on that PB!!!

Know the feeling, I was over one (5-7lb) for at least an half hour the last time I was at Skinner. Tried 3-4 different baits and no joy. Worst part is when they "Smile" at you

By the way, what is your PB?

I spotted one and went back to it 4 different times it would have probably been a PB if I could have gotten it to bite. It was really spooky. I should have went after it today lol.

We caught 4 like that yesterday, the algae sucked but fishing is fishing.
I will try to send you some pictures tomorrow on a text.
Thank you.
One of these days we will go together

Thank you Paul, will have to think hard about going back to DVL. That algae is only going to get worse. We will hook up somewhere along the line in the future.

Well the weather report called for a beautiful sunny day. Honestly thought the fog would not be at the lake (23 miles inland) or that it would burn off early. Ooops!!
