It has been legal to chum for Strippers at Lake Powel and Lake Mead for years now. Most people use chopped up Anchovy to chum, and an Anchovy with the head cut off for bait.

Here in the West, if you fish for Kokanee Salmon, you use pink lures mainly.

I catch most of my catfish with a bobber set at the depth of the water. Three feet of water, bobber set at three feet. And I use cast-a-bobbers for trout. You will get used to watching the bobber.

A chunk of fresh carp meat is one of my favorite catfish baits.

Peter, do you have a Amazon Prime credit card? I do and run everything through it. Groceries, gas, insurance payments and everything else. Then you can buy at Bass pro and get at least 1% back. You still get 5% at Amazon but you get 2% for groceries. And sometimes 2% for fishing stuff. Anyone that has Amazon Prime should have a Amazon Prime Credit card. It will pay for your yearly fees and I get $300 back on top of that. And I'm all alone. A family would get much more back per year.

I used to use one (thirty years ago) for trout and I loved it. I use a snap swivel and when i was done fishing, I'd hook the top eye on the pole with the swivel, then loosen the joints and reel it to collapse it. Always leaving the line attached to the last eyelet. To extend the pole; loosen the drag and start at the bottom joint just make sure it is straight, snug the joint move to the next, so on. Don't over tighten the joints. Always better to be too loose then too tight. I was always in the water long before my friends with their two piece rods. It eventually broke after several years.

I just ordered me another one for $23.00 after I saw a demo on Facebook. Check out:
PureRedHot.com it should be here any day. I will let you know how it is.

I used to use a lot of mepps and panther Martin's and still do on small streams, however I use more Castmaster spoons now on lakes and ponds. Brook Trout, in particular, love them.
Just cast and reel a little slow. No need to try and add action by jerking the rod tip.
Cast a bubble and Renegade or Double Renegade fly is killer. You can cast them a long ways and cover a lot of water on lakes.

Yes, that's what I'm taking about. Steelhead fishing with big bobbers. The line snags and breaks, my dog brings the bobber back.

My dog loves fishing also. She is great in my boat. She tries to help and will sometimes pick a fish up and walk around with it lightly in her mouth.

However, you have to realize, my dog goes every where with me. My constant companion. She is perfectly leash trained when I need a leash. And would not cause problems with any other dog. She loves the water and is a certified dock dog. And is a great bird hunting and retrieving dog.

An active dog like mine, or any of the hunting dogs will not ever get the dailey exercise it needs on a leash. I don't care what you cry baby dog owners think. My dog will stay free while I'm on the ice or fishing the bank or my daily dog walks. And you better be prepared to die if you point a gun at my dog.

I love the President. At $60 I don't think you can beat it. They are kinda small or compact. So I like the biggest: Pressp35 model on my 7' rods. 5.2:1 ratio and 28.1 in. Per turn.

My hunting dog is my constant companion and rarely on leash. She wouldn't bite another dog even if they attack her. Let alone a person. However, a Wiemeranar loves to tease and will sometimes run up and bark at people. It scares the non dog people and has twice almost got me in fights. Most of us dog people will die defending their dogs.
