If you go out of the anclote park docks and follow the river twards The cay..as you pass the last mangro islands on the left turn in left..go to the sandbar oyster bar…fish out about 30 yards to the east of it..also go farther west and you will see two island oyster bars. Fish that as well..to the south of that is many crab traps fish there as well..we got 32 fish in 4 hours…
I love my home waters always catch good fish..i also catch and release so plenty every time i fish..lots and lots of specs..i get over 10 in 4 hours or less..i have a whaly 370 and i stay inside the cay if you go out beyond the cay it can get rough..bigger fish out there but hard to fish if there is any wind..oh yah lots of sharks as well..the mangros on the left are good but watch out for shallow waters..howard island can also be good on some days. I also like fishing the cay where the broken down white boat is..its kinda in the middle area of the cay..to the right of the lighthouse..i stay away from the pier on the far side of the plant..lots and i mean lots of pin fish…
Fish twards the left after the last mangro island and use a popping cork with a paddle tail jig. I catch lots of trout and yellow tail snapper. This is my home waters and i catch lots of fish all the time. If you want reds go to the cay lighthouse area and to the left of it..use a gold spoon or a bright color paddle tail. Pink works well too..
