Went back to San Vincente this morning and had my grandson Tyler meet me there. So, we get to our first stop and he says "Papa, let's have a competition to see who gets the first fish". I had just made my first cast and I respond you just lost that one. He says Seriously, 30 seconds? Yep, bait barely hit the water. Don't you just love killing the skunk on the first cast? We had a lot of fun and caught a few and lost a few. Ended up with eleven fish and he got four of them. Great day!!

We had just finished a crawfish boil. It was well over 100 and we dumped a cooler of ice on the ground. Tuff laid there until the ice was gone!

Just heard that Oregon is going to let people pump there own gas. I didn't know any state still restricted people from doing that.

I have a friend who drove through Oregon
Went to put gas in his truck
Guy ran out told him he could get a ticket
For pumping his own gas
But because he see that he is from out of state he wonโ€™t report him

Captain Ben graciously invited me to a wind buffeted, chilly for California boat ride, which I enthusiastically jumped on.
We were motoring down river by 0615 and headed to his favorite casting spot. We were complaining back and forth how unfishy the river has been this year, then he hooks up on the first cast. The fish was smarter than Ben though and got free close to the boat. I didn't see the fish, but the way Ben was having to work, I am sure it was a picture worthy specimen. Not much action after that so we went hunting. I caught a dink while trolling, then we saw a most amazing display of fish on the electronics. We cruised right over them and Ben hooked up. Sadly, it too was a dink, and by the time we got the boat turned around for a second run they were gone.
We tried both trolling and casting in various spots Capt. Ben knows, and he hooked up another small, but only small by 1/4 inch.
Heading back to the barn Ben hooked and landed a 20+ inch striper that would have passed the most stringent Fish and Game inspection. Our last hurrah was at a spot that Ben and SAW1 fish all the time, and the only thing we got there was a bent prop after hitting a submerged something that has not been seen before.
Called it a day, and were out of the water by 1400.
The day's tally was 3 dinks, one escapee, a 20+ inch striper, 3 lost lures, and a bent prop.
Truly fun day, except for the prop of course.
Thanks Ben!
