I useally fish for large Flatheads, and live bream work well. I have even used small bass 8 to10 inches, and had good success. Worms work most anytime for most types of fish. Normally I don't fish for carp, but have caught them with whole kernel corn. Good Fish'n RF
Yes. Allatoona is a very good lake to fish. There are alot of shallow areas so be careful if you don't know the lake.
I think you have to much line on your spool. Reel off some line until you have 1/8 to 3/16inch of the spools edge or lip in plain sight.
Yes, never take anything to water that you're not willing to lose. And fishermen as a whole need to be more careful about their line scraps. The wads of line can be detrimental to the wildlife.
I'm an older guy & love spinning reels. I have never found a trigger that I like.
If you're not having any problem with your spinner &new line (approx. same setup).I would suggest spooling up the caster with new line.
Thanks to everyone! The wheels are spinning and I believe that I will borrow a flyrod or two(whitch will come with plentiful tips from some of the good friends I have). Then I can make a better decision on what direction to go. I've always been a tinker'er and retired from a millwright local. So I know what precision is down to the half-thousant's of an inch The wheels are turning.I'll keep posting.

Thank you for your information Mr Williams. Perhaps you can suggest a material that would be better than bamboo. I'm experienced with fiberglass, graphite and composite casting and spinning rods. Also I have two rods made completely of308 stainless steel. They're short (4'-0) and built rugged for times you really have to beat the bushes to get to the"Glory Hole". The only reason I was contemplating bamboo is, I always heard they were the expensive one's. That doesn't mean that they're the best. Thanks RF.
I repair my rods and my reels until they break beyond repair or I can't find parts. If you're dead set at getting new gear, throw the old stuff my way. We gladly accept all donations.
Odds are pretty bad for you, good for them. I fished lakeharding pretty regular just a few years back and Alabama shore patrol would check me about every other week for pfd's. Sometimes he would just get ciose & holler"I NEED EVERYONE TO HOLD UP A LIFE JACKET".If you're on that chain of lakes on the Ga -Ala line you also have Georgia DNR, and they don't play. Why do you not have a license?
The green shows up really well when you turn a light on. It doesn't have to be a bright light. Also you can't see it in the water at night.
Man-----man, don't be stupid. How much is your life worth to you?? Go take some swimming lessons, then make the choice on wearing the floatation device. Where do you live? I'll come teach you how to swim. You might find it enjoyable. It's also great workout with low impact on your joints.
Riverfisher
We call that a war mouth bream
I do build and repair rods. I've just never been a fly fisher, never owned a fly rod. I also build my own lures and pour my own worms. Ain't my first rodeo, beenthrowed more than once
