Anyone use a Sea Eagle 285? Opinion?
Get some nylon cable ties and tie a pool noodle around the top of your basket. If you get a big fish just unhook the basket from your kayak. Go back and get it after you land the whopper.
Is it a V or a Jon. Can't be both. Jon is flat on the bottom.
I had a 4hp Merc on a 12' jon. Me and two teens got around just fine.
Short answer is no. Long answer is be creative. Never hurts to try anything if they're not hitting.
Go for it. I have used spincast reel on both kinds of rod and I have even used small spinning reels on fly rods. May feel a little awkward but a two hand cast will help.
Once you add a motor you will probably have to register it. Just adds a little extra expense.
My former father in law ran a lay line on the New River in VA and baited with Ivory soap.
Once you get under 1/4oz a baitcaster gets a little iffy. At that point the rod/reel combo and the skill of the user really comes into play. Most backlashes come from trying to cast a light weight lure too far.
Vibe Yellowfin 100. Stable,comes with paddle, 57lb. $699
The wife and I each have Vibe Yellowfin 100's and are quite happy. Used on slow moving river and small lakes. I had a Jackson Coosa but at 84 yr it was just too heavy. Something to consider.
Plenty of pickerel in Buggs Island north of Raleigh on VA/NC line. Good camping. License from either state valid for whole lake.
Most big box stores do. Vibe is the only mfg. I know of that does.
That is a mouse lure. Topwater.
Check out the Vibe Yellowfin 100 & 120. Both well under 1k$.
