Nice catch, that's a corker!!!
Check out Gambler Baits, great selection.
Agreed, certainly don't need an expensive rod & reel to catch fish. For most recreational fishing there are plenty of combos out there at reasonable prices. No doubt some record fish have been caught on cane poles & zebcos. However, as with any sport, the quality of your equipment can make a big difference. Much of the high priced , quality gear are purchased by touring Pro's or those trying to make it to those levels. Just like any tools of a trade, quality tools make for an easier job. If you are fishing 8+ hours a day and lots of days each year you want the best you can afford. Same reason why someone would spend 70K on a Bass boat instead of fishing from a Kayak or driving a Cadillac instead of a VW. Why buy a better model, sometimes just because they can :) I used to tell one of our Sons as we fished from my 14' boat years ago and he would be watching the big boats flying up the lake, "they aren't catching any fish a 60 MPH" :)
welcome Gegdorf, check out this video on ice fishing for crappie in Maine use the same tactics in NH. keep warm.

Even something as basic as having a white paddle increases your viability. Can also be Easily used to wave at other boaters to show your presence
Great fish. Thanks for sharing
I like LaCroose. You mention being in 6" of water, these will be good for that. I have a few pair of Bean Boots in different heights. ankle high & above ankle, They are great footwear, but not for water over 6" deep.
Most welcome. Ice fishing isn't for everyone, but it's tough to cast a lure with ice on the pond :):)
I've been seeing more posts on ice fishing. Our middle Son has been ice fishing/camping and filming some good trips. Also some great open water video with drone. Check out joehollandfishing on you tube. Last nights video has some excellent Crappie fishing with electronics . Let me know what you think.
Looks like "fish candy" to me :):)
Thanks , In Clearwater area.
I feel so blessed to be able to live on a lake in Maine. There are so many lakes, ponds & rivers in the mid coast region, plenty to choose from within minutes rather than hours.
From Jefferson, Me. Lincoln county . Plenty of lakes & close enough to coast & tidal rivers.
Caught her in Maine, probably a jig & trailer. I usually try to take a picture with the lure, helps the memory.
