We were about 30 miles off Clearwater Beach. I would estimate that depth at between 25 and 50 feet. Being a party boat we moved 5 or 6 times in 4 hours of fishing.

Our biggest ones were about that big. Of course many were smaller.

Yes, it was a good day. As grunts go I think they were on the big side. I just wish they were bigger fish. I've never eaten grunt before. Your timing is great I just finished dinner. It is an excellent eating fish. Worth targeting.

I have determined exactly when the pompano will start biting. This a foolproof system I have developed. For $19.95 I will share it with you. Just kidding. They will start biting when you decide to take a week off rather than fish. This is based on years of personal experience fishing for pompano

I returned an hour ago from a party boat trip from Clearwater Beach. White Grunt mostly. There were two keeper hogfish and many undersized grouper. The next boat over had similar results. Oh, I forgot, one flounder and sheepshead. This was with 16 fishermen and women.

If you are going to try wading shuffle your feet to notify stingrays so you don't surprise them.

My biggest fish for decades was a 22# bluefin tuna caught on a party boat off NJ in 1971. Then I moved to Florida a few years ago. I've since caught a 33' Redfish and a 4' nurse shark. My biggest fish not caught was a shark??? that would have spooled me on the beach if I hadn't held my spool to break the line.

22 Pound bluefin

33 inch redfish

If there are fish present then shrimp will work. Try moving to a different spot. Not in the car, just walk 100+ feet. If that doesn't work try the car.

Please advise any hints on Bayside dock fishing in Islamorada Florida during summer months.

Some of the best "shore" fishing in the area is on the bridges just south of Bud & Mary's Marina. I believe that Channel #2 right next to Bud & Mary's is closed for construction. Maybe it will be open by summer. On the Channel #5 bridge I caught several of these guys in November.

My daughter signed my wife and me up for "Story Worth". The site sends you an email every week for a year. The email contained a question about you as a younger person. An example would be, how did you get along with your Dad? You can write a couple of paragraphs about the subject or make your own subjects. You can get a book of all your stories at the end of the year. It is an interesting way to pass on some of the stories to your kid and grandkid.

There are tons of videos on YouTube about surf fishing in the Pan Handle. You can learn a lot by watching them. One thing that I've learned is that the fish you catch from shore are generally small. I have downsized my hooks since going down the same path that you are on. Mostly I use 1/0 circle hooks for bait. If there are bait stealers around I can go down to a size 8.
I also started a website a few years back. You may like some of the articles.
