I have the Marcum and it is great. it takes some getting used to because normally your not able to see the fish come at your bait. but when you get used to it it really is a lot of fun.
Battery lasts up to 12 hours and works best in a hut so you can see the screen better.

Consider the drill approach(20 volt) lithium batteries with a standard Mora auger and conversion kit. I can punch 20 + holes in 10 inches of ices in less than 10 minutes . I usually carry 2 extra batteries and cut a hole much quicker than most gas powered augers. Cost of this approach is must less than power augers .

Me and a buddy have races from time to time to see which auger is better with a drill. I use the Snap on 1/2 inch drill 20 volt with a nils ice auger and my buddy uses the Milwaukee 1/2 inch drill 20 volt with a strike master chipper and we were drilling through about 12 inches of ice. It appears the Nils is a much better auger all the way around. even if you use it by hand and not the drill it is must faster than most. I use the lowrance hook 7 ice package, I love it. I will use my Marcum VS 485 HD and that gets pretty fun when you can really see the fish go after your bait. and my buddy uses the Vexlar f12

Welcome to the forum elknut6 I live in Aurora colorado and I retired last december but didn't get to do much fishing this year I fished Aurora reservoir a few times from bank but the last 2 times I've went I didn't even get any bites I glad to see someone here from Colorado I have been wondering about bar lake but sounds like it's no better than Aurora reservoir.

Good Morning
I have tried Aurora Reservoir as well, it is a hit and a miss. There are some nice ones in there though. I am anxiously awaiting the ice fishing season.

Hello all, I am new to this Fishing Stage
I fish year round from shore, Boat and Ice fish. When I was a kid we used to be able to catch Blue gill and Crappie by the tons. Over the years I moved on to bigger fish but miss the catching and eating of the Blue gills. any suggestions of where I can catch these now a days. I tried my old spots but they seemed to have disappeared?
