We used to reverse cheap level fly lines, which wore out rather quickly. Now I use weight forward tapered lines and they can’t be reversed.

Think about it. If you have a local park or sports field anywhere around tie the used end of the line to a tree, goalposts or backstop and take a walk. Getting to the other end of your line. Cut it loose and retie to the used end of the line. Now you have the used end tied onto the reel just crank it onto the reel and you're set.

That’s how I would do it!

Nice "testimonial", you've caught up.....did you need a pat on the back to go with your revelation ?

When fishing I wear my Drive Wear prescription polarized sunglasses. When I was younger and didn't need multifocal glasses I just used inexpensive polarized sunglasses. The difference in what can be seen under the water's surface is amazing. The Drive Wears are also great for driving - even at night!

Thin + strong + non stretch = potential to cut. In my experience an improved clinch knot works as well with braid as with mono.

Actually, here where I live they’re called shellcrackers.

I’ve not known redear sunfish to be called bluegills before. Bream, yes, but not bluegills. Is this common in some places?

It depends on what sort of lure I’m using. A lure that causes a lot of line twist calls for a swivel. If you use a snap swivel you only have one knot to tie. That’s what I usually use.

Go to YouTube and look up Kendall Frederick. He’ll show you how to use a fly rod with a spinning reel. (I often do the same thing, usually for vertical jigging, but do some casting.)

The relationship Jeremy quoted is true: P=VI, where P is power or wattage, V is potential difference or voltage, and I is current or amperage but Ohm's law is V=IR, where R is resistance.

My wife invented a new adjective to describe the fish one day when the action was extremely slow. She said they were the unbitinest fish she'd ever seen! Good description, I thought.

We were warm here in South Mississippi last week. The wife and I have caught bass pretty much all fall and winter. But this morning there was hard rain and thunder and it was 32 degrees. Colder than that now, but we're getting off light. There is major winter weather just northwest of us. (We are about 50 miles from the Gulf Coast.)
I have two small boats that are similar to a kayak - great fun!

I’ve hauled a Jon boat many a mile in the back of a pickup and still do on occasion. The boat I’m using now is a 12 ft Alumacraft and I can load it by myself. (I’m 74.) I don’t know if I could handle a 14 footer.
