Went fishing on the clarion river the other day and pulled in a nice 18 inch brownie on a suspending rapala I took the spinning rod today left the fly rod in the truck I just been thinking rapalas would pull these fish and I was right, walking down the banks I got mesmerized by nature and took some pictures, also saw a mink and a couple bald eagles was a good day for a nature walk

Looks like a spent German brown. Nice catch.
here’s a Pa brown trout that one doesn’t have the dark distinct spots ares do, but it could be the angle and lighting not showing the spots

Nothing elite it’s just what some of us do as some guys use spinning rods some bait casters put a bait caster in my hand and you’ll gave a good laugh

From someone who knows less than nothing about fly fishing.
I can certainly imagine the attraction of landing one on something that you tied, the stream wading v. boats on a lake or river & the differing ambience; but I'm going in another direction.
I think there may be a certain status element to it.
I've always looked at the fly folks as the elite among us and wouldn't be surprised if some may also.
No offense intended.
I'll always look up to you.

Pick up a less expensive rod and start with bluegills and small bass fishing you’ll get hooked

Don’t laugh or get mad but I’m ok at it not the best I’m on par with bait guys my buddy’s fish bait and we’re 50-50 usually I get the bigger ones but a true professional fly guy will smoke bait guys all day long to the point of embarrassment
