Hello all, Kevin from San Diego, Ca. Heading up Bishop tomorrow and then on to June Lake Loop Monday for 3 days and then back down to Owens Camp along the river the rest of the week. Looking forward to some good clean air and playing in Mother Natures front yard!! Hopefully some great trout fishing as well. Have a boat reserved on Gull next Tuesday! Thank you for allowing me to be apart of the Forums. God bless.
Welcome to the stage. That's some awesome fishing up there. Love Convict lake too. The owens has changed some in my time of fishing it. Tight lines🎣
Yep, that time if year. A few 90+ days have really kicked started the algae blooms around here as well. A couple of the impoundments I've seen traces of the blue green stuff. Not good. Great that you caught a few though!
Hey DC, sorry to hear you have a bloom in your erea. And thanks, got to fish with my Sons. Not on the boat, but fishing anyways..lol
Went back to San Vincente this morning and had my grandson Tyler meet me there. So, we get to our first stop and he says "Papa, let's have a competition to see who gets the first fish". I had just made my first cast and I respond you just lost that one. He says Seriously, 30 seconds? Yep, bait barely hit the water. Don't you just love killing the skunk on the first cast? We had a lot of fun and caught a few and lost a few. Ended up with eleven fish and he got four of them. Great day!!

Bluestone is a chemical they use for smaller lakes to clear up algae and heavy weeds. After about a week or so, the fishing picks up. I normally fish all these lakes regularly, but they have been tough. I have been going to San Vincente Reservoir down by Lakeside for the past couple of weeks and catching about 10-15 fish per trip and I only fish the mornings. It is about 1-1.5-hour drive from Temecula. Not sure where you live, so suggest you to your profile page and put in your actual location, it helps us help you some time. Good luck

Thanks Sir. We have talked before. I'm in Yucaipa. I've been fishing Yuma and the river in yaks for years. Last year went to the bass boat (old age).So Perris and DVL are basically new water for me. Been to DVL 4 times. Have done ok. Been to Perris, got in the algae last trip. Hated having my gear in that crap. DVL isn't listed in the HAB site. Perris is still yellow...I guess we will see. Thanks again 🎣
I was told the algae is now gone at Perris as they bluestoned it last week. Fishing there should pick up by the end of next week. DVL is really slow now and the algae is getting pretty bad there. Lake Skinner is being bluestoned this Friday. Hope that helps, good luck and tight lines.
What is "bluestoned "? DVL has a bloom now too? Wow. I guess I can't get away from it. And thanks for the info BassGuy. Very appreciated.
Looks like a fun place to be fishing, and thankfully you did manage to catch some. That algae bloom crud seems to be sneaking up here and there...just saw news about one in a Michigan lake recently too. Nice photos!
Thanks....Ya the bloom got us two weeks ago at Perris. Didn't even want to put the boat in...
Well went to the most terrible place to fish around me. Fishermen's Retreat.....The bass look so healthy. I was shocked. Myself and my oldest cought a few-lost a few. My youngest got the skunk....DVL this Saturday!!
Hey Look, where you from and what do you like to fish for mostly?
Hey Saw. I'm in So Cal. DVL is about 50 minutes from me. These days I'm on the hunt for a confirmed 10 lb pluss LM. I fish from here to Oklahoma. But I've fished for just about everything. From bluegill to Giant Trevally.
My name is George and let me tell ya, fishing is the best fraternity I belong to...I'd fish every day if I could. I'm mostly a trout guy but down for any species. I'm from Upland , Ca
