Thanks for the feedback and the scenery is as good as it gets.
Plenty of Lakes and Flathead River spots that you don't have to walk far to get to catch some nice Cutthroat, Lake Trout, Brook trout and Rainbows. If you ever get the chance to go you won't regret the time it takes to get there.
I come all the way from Texas to get to Glacier NP and keep going back.

A couple months ago we hiked in the back country in Glacier National Park and caught some nice Grayling and Rainbows. The lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the park and worth the effort to get there.
I hope to go back again some day.

JB I have really enjoyed your posts this season, can't get enough of Montana.
I got a report to post from September while hiking in Glacier .
Thanks for taking us along in the boat in those clear clean lakes in NWM.

I've got the paddle version of your Kayak, it's worked well the past couple years fishing on several lakes in North Texas. I'm sure the peddle version would get me a much longer range and might consider upgrading in the next year. Old Town makes great Kayaks IMHO.

I know this is further than you mentioned but Florida Panhandle is great place to Snowbird.
Around Destin, Ft Walton, Miramar Beach there is good bay fishing and gulf fishing.
Weather is usually mild and plenty of things to do and see.

Great pics JB and on Flathead Lake of all places ! I would never thought there were nice bass like that in the lake.
Driven down along the east side of the lake where all the cherry orchards are and just assumed the big water was just full of big Lake Trout roaming in the deep. The Bison range further south of the lake is also an awesome place to drive thru with if you haven't been there yet, so much wildlife it's better than any zoo.
Thanks again for sharing and I'll will be in Glacier county in just two more months.

Thanks for sharing JB and those are some nice bass. Did not know there were bass to be caught in that part of Montana. I am heading there in September from Texas to do some backpacking and for trout fishing but might have to bring some bass lures just in case. We fish in Glacier NP and usually after cutthroat trout and sometimes lake trout and rainbows depending on the spot. I home my plan A, B, or C works out and weather is decent.

Paid two-thirds up front?? Sounds suspicious to me. You removed two-thirds of the dealer’s motivation when you did that. I ordered an Old Town PDL 120 last December from Austin Canoe and Kayak without sending any money. No kayak by April so I canceled, went on EBay and found one in stock from a small dealer in East Jesus, Pennsylvania who couldn’t sell it because he wouldn’t ship it. I drove seven hours each way to snag it. Well worth the effort. Look for a used yak.

I also had a long wait for my order from Austin Kayak, it was about 4 months to get my Old Town Sportsman paddle 106 but it was worth the wait. Really like the Old Town, solid and stable Kayak, been out in it about a dozen trips and caught fish every time. Like the fact I can stand up and stretch out, the seat is very comfortable as well.

catching more fish than my brother

That's a good one, and one I always try to follow when out fishing with my brother and other fishing buddy.

Great story Robert.
Back in the early 80's I worked in Dallas at Mobil Oil and drove there from Arlington for my evening and night shift job. So many crazy drivers and things on the highway at that time of night, you definitely had to be very alert like you.
Also had a boat trail event myself driving home from a long fishing trip with my brother, I was in the passenger side half-asleep when I heard a large bump and then saw my trailer tire roll past me in the ditch. Needless to say it was a long time before we got home after that happened.
