I will be heading out there on Sunday. Looks like squally weather coming our way. I will stay on the north side to avoid the sand.

The stripers are in at Montauk and the south shore. I will start out east and then head westward. Looks like a late start to the season.

General rule of thumb is north side on outgoing tide and south side on incoming tide.

My problem was I had booked this trip six months ago. Usually by now there are some fish. I will keep checking for reports. I may be able to sneak away if the fish do show up. Fish On!!!

I also saw a large striper at Caswells. Looks like a seal had bitten its tail off. Big blow this weekend with heavy rain. That will muddy up the water for a few days. Lets see what happens after the water clears.

I just spent the week at Montauk. There was zero, zilch and nada for the entire week. There were some small albies in the inlet on the north side.

Great week so far at Montauk. Get to the north side by 6:30am and you will have all the stripers you can handle for 30 - 60 minutes. I am using my Gibbs pencil poppers.

Thanks. It is tough finding any surf reports. I will find out Sunday when I get to Montauk and post any reports of finding fish.

I was out there last month with only a few small blues. We have had a couple of cold fronts come through and I am hoping next week they start their migration south from Maine and Massachusetts.

There is only one bait shop left in town. We used to take photos of people with their catch as they came back to the dock. It was great for a few decades then the years started catching up with everyone. Montauk is not what it used to be but most of rocks are still there. All we need now are the fish.

I will be out there next week. New York State is useless for Montauk. I have not seen a single state report in the last 50 years. Most of my Montauk buddies have either moved or gone onto a higher plane of existence.

Looking for discussion of fishing conditions in the surf at Montauk. It is a six hour drive for me so before I burn up a lot of gas I am looking for reports of actual conditions.
