Hey Pete WI DNR lists over 20 Beaver Lakes and another dozen or so with Beaver in the name. If you can be more specific we might be able to help.

Also better to eat a smaller bass, walleye, etc., than an older one.

It's safest to eat panfish since they don't live long enough to collect and store the pollutants. Fish like big cats which live a long time digging around in the sediment where the "stuff" is and store it in their fat, are definitely off my menu.

If you are staying at a Lodge/Resort/Outfitter , ask them. They will know. Probly the same as any walleye fishing, live bait dragged on the bottom or trolling diving cranks. Hope you have good weather. Good luck.

A little extra info

On July 21, 2022, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature placed the migratory monarch butterfly on its Red List of threatened species and classified it as endangered. Monarchs migrate across North America each year and are one of the continent’s most widely recognized species.

Common Milkweed - USDA Forest Service
It is a widespread and somewhat weedy species known from most of the eastern United States and the eastern most prairie states as well as southern Canada from New Brunswick to Saskatchewan. It is frequently found in fence rows, on roadsides, in fields, and in prairies and pastures.

If it's the Eagle Springs Lake in Walworth/Waukesha County then the DNR says there are panfish, large mouth bass and northern pike. At 279 acres and max 8' deep I would expect it to be pretty weedy at this time of year.

Thanks Gordon, nice video. It's interesting to think that they not only need the milkweed patch in our yards but need a CONNECTED path through their whole migration.

Maybe a drop shot would work for deeper spots. The lakes I fish are mostly too weedy for drop shot. Berkley makes a small floating POWERBAIT sort of creature called the Water Bug that's promising.
