You wrote that you caught 46 Strippers now that's my kind of Tournament !! hahahah
No Sir , the intercoastal runs from south Florida to way up north , I'm thinking up to Maryland . But it does once in awhile run parallel and allow fish to come in from the ocean . Here in Jax you can come up the St. Johns river turn south and goo all the way to Saint Augustine in the Intercoastal . Look on a map you will see it , it has tides like the river and has a lot of fish . Reds and trout sheephead etc.
If I were you I would go a couple miles east and fish in the Intercoastal . Throw some live shrimp .
Yep that one guy is fishing in the slot where the fish are traveling . You can do the same with Salmon./Steelhead/even Sturgeon . Good Luck Catching !
Sometimes you can be fishing 4 poles out the back of the boat and only one pole will catch them all . What does that tell ya ? You need to adjust the boat so your closer to the one pole catching the fish . The fish use slots in the river . If you can find the slot they are using then BINGO you will all catch fish . Good Luck .
Shad play follow the leader , sometimes moving 5 or 6 feet either way is the difference between having a great day catching or a great day wishing you were catching . For Shad in the Columbia we used the Dick Nite lures --little spoons in orange or chartruse and sometimes adjusting up up and down a foot or two makes a difference too . But dont give up
No problem Robert , I'm fairly new to NE Florida as well . I have done a bit of surf fishing and caught some Whiting and Pompano , and I knew nothing about it , just learning as I go . Caught some good sized catfish in the St. Johns and Croakers and Sunshine bass as well . You just gotta stay after it . The best time fishing is the time that you go .
You all going to the Famous Palatka Blue Crab Festival this weekend ? I heard it was gonna be a big humdinger !!
Try them all , you will figure it out . It changes all the time . The more the water warms the species of fish will change also , When the water cools back down the species will change again . Some days the tides will be a little slower than others and you will catch fish other days they might hit on a faster tide. The most important thing is don't give up on the not so good days . Read all you can on You-tube . Lots of Videos on how to in your are a on the You-Tube .
Those are chicken butts !! hahahahaahha
Right Now---- Most likely the biggest secret is you have to cut a hole in the ice before casting your pole.
The Run still happens every year , its called the Gate River Run now . But the Jacksonville Landing is gone They demolished is all and have plans to build a multi million dollar upgrades with top of the line Motels , shops and entertainment . I think the owner of the Jaguars has his hands in the business agreements . I think he agreed to shell money ot and in return receive a big new practice facility for the Jaguars . Hopefully some year they will get a mediocre team that can win more than 3 games in 2 seasons. hahahahahaha
Sodus Bay out by Le Roy Island was always a good spot
Yes Sir Right along the St. Johns River . Its a big Naval Air station too ! They also have a Big Naval ship Base at Mayport at the mouth of the St. Johns River in Jacksonville . Lots of destroyers .
