Corker of a catfish. Good thing he was using a rod & reel and NOT noodling :):) wouldn't want his (or my) arm in that ones mouth !!!
Start by holding rod with the lure attached 3 to 4 feet off the ground. release spool and use tension knob to allow lure to fall. When hitting the ground you should have no over-run on reel. Then you can Keep backing off the magnetic brakes while increasing your thumb pressure, then use your thumb to control speed & prevent backlashes. Weight of lure and the wind will determine how much braking/tension you need. Tight lines :)
I use the chatterbait in Maine for LM & SM. Great lures. I Use Gambler Baits products for trailers. very effective.
Nice catch !! That's why the Pike grow so large, eating those tasty trout .
Have seen many mishaps a boat launches. The 2 most common seem to be, forgot to put the drain plug in prior to launching and unhooking safety chain from trailer before getting in or close to the water. Have seen too many boats slide off trailer at steep launches or from hard braking while backing down launch.
As far as a helping wife, keep in mind: "A happy wife is a Happy life" :):)
Best advise is to go to school and get a marketing degree. Check out joehollandfishing on you tube. Joe was a sponsored touring pro. Explains many of the ups and downs of the tour , sponsorship , promoting yourself, along with catching fish. One of the videos has interviews with a bunch of pro's answering the question, most important advise for becoming a pro. Pretty informative.
We have Sturgeon in the Kennebec & Sheepscott Rivers in Maine. Probably in other coastal rivers.
Check out Gambler Baits in Pompano Fl. Full line of baits. You will see many of their baits mentioned in tournament wins.
Smitty, Where in Maine are you?
