If you are catching and releasing the stress on the fish and possible mouth and Gill damage is far less if you hold by the mouth and support the body with the other hand. Particularly larger fish. It makes reintroduction easier and the fish isn't all stretched out in the gill and mouth area.
Or not.

Double hook rig with a 4 or 5 oz. sand grabber weight. Live sand Fleas and toss it to the trough as tide STARTS to go out and they'll jump the bait in a hurry. Lots of salt cats this month just off shore in the surf so shrimp is not recommended until after second week of August when currents run them back up the inlet. Have fun and visit the light house. Great view.

When Hi Tide is beginning to roll out and seas are under 3 feet. Tide going out brings bait fish , sand fleas and muscles rolling out into the trough and the fish just troll the dip. Mullet run is best time of year in November
here .

See if anyone has a small canoe, rowboat or Kayak you could borrow and try for a bit. I think once you have the chance to move around your fishing spot you will likely, may take a few trips, find the honey hole if their is one. Or at least know where the fish are at certain times and weather conditions.

I don't know for sure but I'm fraid that yak is going to be awfully hard to paddle with that car underneath it. I'm no scholar, but I'd recommend removing the car prior to casting off. Just my thought.

I have one, bought on line. Haven't thought to use it. Have you caught anything of size like 8 to 12 lbs? I just wonder about the strength.

If that's on Florida License I hope you caught and released....size matters. Nice fish though, will be a better fish when it's an adult.

Once you get your favorite spots and used to the "on Water" fishing experience move into a 10 foot Sun Dolphin fishing Kayak for about $220 from Wally World with everything you need except poles and lures.
Great start...have a blast.

Compassion is good trait to have as you clearly do. Being a female you have an enhanced gene for this emotion as our creator, or any other Deity you follow, was pretty smart because you girls have the babies. Therefore the added pinch of compassion. Now that said, we males don't have a shortage, just not the extra bump you do. We were designed to fish, hunt gather and provide. So we aren't naturally so compassionate. You are right with the world and the world seems right with you...so do what you do best, feel badly and say sorry....then eat very well.

You don't need a motor yo just need a 300 kayak. Then you an fish anywhere in our wonderful state you'd like. You have some great mangrove trails and brackish salt water mixes to fish and a Kyak is the bets way.

thanks for the tips. You're suggestion about a jig with some shrimp was given to me by a couple of other folks. Also using Mirrolure twitch baits and had some luck this past weekend. This weekend I try your idea. Thanks again.
