I used to do pretty good on walleye below the dam there. Haven't done that for 25 years, though.

Welcome, Dlwilli1! The Iowa DNR has a weekly fishing report you can subscribe to, if that might help you out.

Scott, the Iowa DNR has a weekly fishing report you can subscribe to, showing each part of the state. You may find that useful.

Is there a particular brand you all recommend?

I haven't seen much difference in them. I've seen every one I've had stop deer in the ditch. Only one I don't like are the chrome looking ones. They tarnish quickly.

Hit 3 and all done major damage. Put those deer whistlers on the truck and have not hit one since.

I'm a firm believer in deer whistles.

Hit one with a Dodge Neon. Just a small dent on the hood, it hit the trunk on the way back down. I've also had 2 deer hit me, leaving tooth scratches near the rear door handle each time.

Thanks all! Yes, it has been a great week. Even went until this morning when the 2 daughters got into a squabble. That is a record! Pretty windy again today, have to get creative where to fish.

Yep, even a blind sow finds an acorn once in a while.

Another perfect day here. Sunny, 80 and light wind. There are a lot of steep drop-offs on this lake, so I followed them and had everyone cast toward shallow water. Paid off with bass and northern all around. All the northern but one was in the 22 to 36 inch slot you can't keep. Still was a score for the "guide ". SIL and I did some exploring this afternoon, looking for walleye but only landing a few bass. Still great to be on the water.

Wife had biggest fish today

SIL with nice largemouth.
