Along the Gulf Coast fall seems best for almost any type of fish. Doesn’t matter, salt, fresh or brackish water.

Never too cold to fish. Ask the guys in MN. But I do live on the Gulf Coast.

I like colder weather for inshore fishing.

Looking for any tips on learning when to crab trap/ rod and reel fishing in the area. My names josh. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated

I live at the north end of Wolf Bay in Baldwin County. I get crabs year round. Mostly use mullet heads and back bones for bait after cleaning, but almost anything that will stay in the bait compartment of your trap will work. I have my best luck right along my bulkhead.

You will find live shrimp is the go to bait for fish (except flounder). Cut bait (cut from other fish) will work. Speckled trout and red fish will also hit artificial bait such as Mirror Lures.

The best thing to do is hit the water and experiment. If you know someone who fishes see if you can tag along.

I only fish inshore, so the above apply to the bays and sounds around southwest AL.

Good luck. Don’t forget fishing license. Depending on where you fish you may also need a saltwater license.
