Had to dumb ass myself. Started looking up ski vests and wondered why I was seeing full jackets with hoods. That's when I realized I needed to look at water ski vests.

Thanks Sport,
I hadn't thought of ski vests. Good suggestion.

Fisherman,
I need your advice. This spring I'm going to teach my grandchildren to fish and would like your input on life vests.
I grew up swimming every day since I was 6 years old and can swim like a fish, but l need to set a example and wear one also. My weight is 205 lbs, wanting to get down to 185. Almost everything I wear is Camo, yes even my under shorts. So mine must be Camo. My wife is a little larger than me 225 lbs and doesn't swim well. My grandson, Gizmo is 6 yrs old and weighs about 57 lbs. My granddaughter, Lil Raccoon is 5 and rather small. Weighing about 37 lbs. And the most active of all Tiger 2 years old and about 20 lbs.
Yes that is actually what Grandpa ( me ) calls them
Anyway their safety is paramount, and your suggestions on PDF's would be most appreciated.
One other thing. Lil Raccoon can swim with arm floaties. Gizmo is hesitant and won't go into the water, but wants to fish like Grandpa does. And Tiger I'm sure that if he saw a fish would jump in after it.

Frank remeo,
I'm the only fisherman in my family. I sent your message to them, and even though they don't fish there though your story was hilarious 🤣.
The general rule at our house. Dad ( me ) will catch it, clean it and cook it. Then everyone will eat it.
I gripe and complain, but they all know that I wouldn't have it any other way.

I had this on another thread. Sauger and it's cousins. I'll post it here as it is weird but true.
A few years ago I encountered a Conversation Officer wanting to site me for snagging Spoonbill Catfish.
I saw him in the distance watching me. When he finally approached me he said I was illegally snagging Spoonbill. I explained that I had been sitting here since morning and had not caught a thing. I usually pack a lunch. After eating my sandwich and chips, I moved on to my celery sticks. The one that I tried was rather chewy so I threw it into the water. It floated for awhile, then a Spoonbill surfaced and ate it. Got me to thinking. I put a piece of celery on a hook with a small bobber. Soon the bobber went under and I had a Spoonbill Catfish. Spoonbills a vegetarian. After catching 2 more is where I was approached.
The officer did not believe me and wanted a demonstration. So I rigged it again and about 45 minutes later another Spoonbill.
No ticket just a pissed off CO.

I have some weird fishing and hunting stories and would like to hear yours.
Several years ago my children and I were camping at the Indiana Beach Camp Resort. At that time they had a miniature golf course inside the campground. The moat around it had small carp, for catch and release. Being a popular site there was always a few fisherman and their families.
I took my children to show them how to fish. We caught one fish after another. Sometimes the bait barely hitting the water before a hookup. Another fisherman approached us and wanted to know the secret of our success
I asked him what type of bait he was using? He had the typical carp dough. Then I showed him my setup I used a small hook with a small bobber and a single piece of sweet corn on the hook with just the tip and barb protruding. I explained that the fish thinks the same way we do. Would you rather eat smelly dough or sweet corn. He switched to my suggestion and was soon catching fish.
It wasn't long before the camp store ran out of canned corn
. Since then I always catch some early spring break on sweet corn and a small bobber.

The Conservation Officer mentioned above is also the one that previously had tried to site me for too many poles. So we already had a ill history. When I was in college I met his brother, who was the instructor for Conservation Law. I pissed him off also.

Danger25,
Sounds strange, but actually happened. I had been fishing all morning, catching nothing. I took a sack lunch, as I always do. Along with my sandwich and chips were some stakes of celery. It was rather chewy so I threw it into the water. It floated for awhile and a Spoonbill surfaced and ate I. So I put some on a hook and bobber. Waited awhile and another Spoonbill this time hooked. Caught another when I was questioned. The CO didn't believe me and wanted to see for himself. About 45 minutes bobber went down with a small Spoonbill hooked.
Honestly it did really happen.

I've been challenged twice in the past and guestioned once. The first time the Conservation Officer wanted to site me for having too many poles. While I did have 7 only 3 of them were in the water. The others were strung up and on the bank in case of a line tangel or real foul up. No infringement of the law.
The second time I watched the CO observe me as I was catching Spoonbill Catfish, which are vegetarian and will not take a lure He insisted I must be snagging them. He was pissed when he found out I was fishing with celery.

Danger25, I use a rig like this for Catfish.
Interesting conversation I had with a police officer who is also a fisherman Indiana law states you can have 3 pole or hand lines. You can fish with 5 jug or float setups as long as they aren't made of glass. You can fish with 10 bank lines.
So my guestion was. " Does that mean that I can fish with up to 18 lines at 1 time". The answer was in realality yes because the law doesn't use the word " or " so if you can manage that many lines, go for it.
