EE under the old line system cold stand for an E weight double taper or a 5 wt line.
You can use the rod with the 10 lb braid but you won’t be able to fly cast it.
Also, fly reels are not made to cast. The line does the casting.

Ok gotcha tnx...If I put a 10 lbs braid at the end of the backing, for sure I will not be flycasting!...maybe short distance flycasts , pitching n dropshoting, mainly to target Crappies, and whatever comes to the zone!...If my plan is not feasible....please say so....I just do not like the fly rod in storage n forgotten...tnx again.

Got 10 Tackle Sets already.....2 sets of Baitcasters n the rest are Spinning Reels ( mostly 2 pieces n one telescopic for my car trunk)....when I saw this fly rod fell in love w/ the limber long 2 piece, it is very light...since its an old fly rod n reel, might not compare with the new ones that's the reason, I was trying to recycle it as a Crappie Bass Trout Panfish rod...tnx for the suggestion though.

My nephew who was about 7 yrs old, joined a Kiwanis Club Junior Fishing Tournament 1990s at the Embarcadero Pier behind the San Diego Convention Center, and I was his coach..I told him to use a pointy isoceles triangular squid for his bait, help him hang it and let loose!...after probably 30 minutes he hauled his 10" Pacific mackerel. .and cast again, but no luck...this time....luckily no other kid got a fish....so he won a Junior Zebco 33 Tackle for his prize!...He was so excited, he could not contain himself to answer the question of the sponsors, " how did he Do it"....so I blurted....He prayed the Hail Mary three times !!!....and everybody was happy....he is in Denver right now, I do hope and pray he will recuperate from his cancer treatment!

Tnx again....I do not know the numbers....all I can read is..... "Shakespeare Wonderod, made in USA, Howald Process,The Straight Fiber Patented Rod
Trademarked by the Spiral Markings, Pat.2,571,717 & 2,749,643...Canadian Pat. 556,257" ......(this mark is hardly legible )....Standard Tap*m....No. FY-...20-9'-0" ....EE..
Does it make sense?...That is all I can read, sorry....I know I am terrible for asking too much so please bear with me....the eyelet guides are ok...my question now is can I use the rod n reel w the backing n just add a 10 lbs braid to it?....If it's a bad thing to do that.....then I will just store it....tnx again!

I just saw on YouTube a Snapper just caught with a hook n line 12" long, sticking out his anus, which was eventually removed by the fisherman
saying.. "The line was out n The rusty hook was barely
Coming out...there is no way he could have been
Hooked on his anus coz the huge hook is still inside....
n the line out...he must have injested the hook n the previous fisherman just cut the line!"

What weight Rod is it?
Match the line weight to the rod weight.
Then determine what flies or poppers you want to use.Poppers and dry flies require floating lines.Nymphs and streamers require sink tip intermediate or sinking lines. To answer your question, yes you can use the rod and leave the backing on the reel. There is more to fly fishing than a rod reel and line.

I guess. U missed my question...I would like to use the "Fly Rod n Reel" to catch or target Crappies, Panfish, Bass...using the same rod n reel including the yellow backing, so I can utilize the rod n reel "rather than storing it", till I learn to cast properly n read more about nymphs n streamers dry n wet flies...I just fell in love with
The Rods "!ong length 9 ft, lightness n flexibility"
....for hunting Crappies n Bass.....My tnx again for your fast reply....(this particular fly rod n reel
was from an old friend who loved fly fishing).

This is basically why pro angling is so difficult. They have to fish high pressured waters during the day.

Bass can remember if they were recently ripped out of the water after they bit something that looks like something you're throwing. How far back they remember in the wild is hard to say (as there are so many variables to consider), but in at lest one lab, it was proven that it can be as high as a few months. That's one part of this.

The other part is: bigger bass are older bass.. and older bass become smarter predators over time. And after a while, they find that it's just much easier to ambush prey in low-light conditions. So they do all their hunting and eating from dusk till dawn, and they basically chill out with full bellies during the day. So if you want to catch those fish during the day (especially on a pressured waterway), you have to trigger them to bite. They're not very interested in eating during the day, but they're still out in the wild and they don't know when their next meal will be exactly.. so their instinct to bite will take over given the right trigger.

Sometimes that trigger is simply dropping something slow-moving right in front of their face that looks a little different than what everyone else is using. A different soft plastic.. a different color.. a different leader length (if you're using a dropshot, for example), etc.

However, my experience is that for larger bass, the trigger is more often the opposite: it's something that moves fast and erratically.. something that looks injured or messed up in some way that annoys them when it moves nearby. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jerkbaits will, I believe, catch bass any day, any time with very few exceptions. However, you have to fish them the right way for that day/hour. You can really do a lot to change the speed, erratic-ness and depth.

Other things that matter are the direction of your casts (as sometimes they'll only bite if they like the direction it's moving in) and the line size/type you're using.

Basically, consider that stuff and don't get lazy with experimenting. I would say that was my biggest weakness for years.. I would try one crankbait, one worm, and one jerkbait and think "man.. I'm trying everything and nothing works".

Put the hook through the holes under the clamp and clamp the sinker on the hook's shank. After that, drop the weight down the hole.

We fish ~1/4 reel turn off the bottom, and that gadget is really helpful for finding that initial depth
