I have always done well around the piers of bridges. Usually on the downstream side. Smaller waters though. Graywulff

I used to fish with a WW II vet that said if a fish won't take a night crawler it ain't worth catching. He is gone now but the crawlers still work. On everything. Graywulff

Thank you all for your heart felt replies, I'm glad to see there are still a few of us (tough or is it stubborn or ornery) individuals still holding on and enjoying life to its fullest. Fair since and following seas!

I like to think it is just wisdom gained from experience and I agree that it is heartwarming to find our attitude so much multiplied.

I know of many 10-15 lb. trout caught on size 24 flies. When fish are hungry they eat.

I am 73 with 100% Service Connected disability. I went an entire day ocean fishing and at that time I was in a wheelchair. The wheels were locked and the Deck Hand always made sure I was okay. Take her fishing and see her smile again. I found my keeper 42 years ago, even if it was "the 3rd times a charm.

Your sacrifice is why we can still go fishing. I am grateful.

So since we don't have a downrigger on our boat what would be a good way to get a line down? I saw there's torpedo shaped lead weights you can attach your mainline to and then a leader to your lure. Is that feasible? Usually use around 10-12lb test mono. What size weight would be good? Getting to maybe 40-50 ft down? Maybe bullet sinkers like what's used for Carolina or Texas rigs, but larger?

I use lead core colored line on a Penn reel. Works good for me down to like 60 feet.

Graywuff, when replying to someone if you use the QUOTE REPLY tab the persons statement will show and we will all know who you are responding to. It makes it easier to keep up with a conversation. Mike
