Panhandle Fishing Report
With the onset of the crisper weather and windy and wet days our area lakes are starting to get active.
Mirror Lake: now is the time to get your favorite gear together for the brookies. They are usually pretty active this
time of year. Throw your favorite bright bead balanced leeches at ‘em. You can also troll cowbells with a chunk of
worm. Keep it shallow as they are moving towards shore for their spawn. Smaller spoons will pick up the bows and
cuttys.
Lake Cocolalla: nice sized rainbows and browns are being picked up with occasional westies. Flies on top are great.
Take your pick. I also like leech patterns or maybe a sculpin with a fast-sinking tip. Spoons like a blue and chrome
Little Cleo or a copper Kastmaster do great casting or slow troll. Just get that spoon wobblin’. I also like a Thomas
Buoyant/perch pattern.
Lake Pend Oreille
Walleye: Very active in the Clark Fork and her Delta. Soft plastics, flicker shads, deep diving Rapalas and the old
trusty crawler harness are producing fish.
Smallies: they are just now starting to get their fall feed going. They are constantly on the move this time of year,
but you can find them often hunting in shallower water. Sunny, bluebird days are good when the bait fish move to
the top. I like jerk bait or a shallow diver, like a DT6. Deeper fish will respond to drop shots with plastics. Twitching
is the name of the game. The bigger fish are going to be busy.
Pike: not a whole lot of people picking up the big girls, but the hammer-handles are still getting pulled. Dead bait
on a Predator Rig, suspended or on bottom.
Kamloop: The lake is getting ready to flip and that means bucktails and planer boards. Anglers will be out in force
searching for that world record Kam. Fall colors like a Halloween pattern or red and white. My PB was caught on a
Chiefs pattern from Frisky Jenny.
Perch: On a whim I trolled for perch a week ago and got into them in a big way. I pulled in four 15” perch and
dozens of 10 inchers. Flicker Shad 5 was the go-to. Copper flavor or chartreuse.
Happy fishin’

Thanks for the great update.
Great update on Pend Oreille, thanks a bunch. Trying to learn that lake, spent the recently trolling Frisky’s & Apex’s 60-100’ no luck, guess it has to cool off more.

Those Frisky's are best off of planer boards on the surface with a good chop. Look for surface temps around 52-54 degrees for best top water action.
What happening at Twin Lakes and Spirit Lake? Headed out Tues morn

A buddy of mine recently caught a keeper Chinook and several pretty good kokanee at Spirit. I haven't heard anything about any other species.
Good luck!
Thanks for the report. Fished the Halloween derby but couldn’t get anything over 15# most fish this fall seems to be in the 20-22 pound range. Was expecting to see bigger ones this year
