Any suggestions appreciated.
if you are on facebook check out the "oregon surf perch fishing" page . it is oregon residents only. Will find all kinds of help/advice you could ever want ! ( and some ya dont want ) I have not tried the surf fishing yet but gonna give er a go real soon ! Good luck n tight lines !
Razor clam siphons are good bait. Tough and stay on the hook through a few fish.
For mussels; try a small net mesh plastic bag to contain it. Takes longer to need a replacement mussel .. I bought a 10 pkg of them for cheap. Amazon
Clam foot and necks are real nice. Caught 27 Red Perch just south of the Bandon jetty on them and frozen shrimp as well in the 1970's.
There were two crossing currents that dug a hole in the bottom that the Perch settled in to hunt food.

One of the best artificial baits is Gulp sand worms, 2 inch, camo pattern. A good lure is Luckycraft 110, any sliver or minnow pattern; this lure might even entice a Hali or striper bite. Real bait: sand fleas (tiny beach crabs), sand worms, mussel meat, clam meat, etc. Check utube for setting up your surf fishing rig. Photo shows red tail perch caught on Gulp sand worm, 11 foot surf rod with 4000 size Pfleuger spinning reel. Caught these on beach adjacent to Bandon, OR. north jetty. Surf perch fishing is best in spring and summer but they will bite year around. Tight lines, go get’em.😎🎣🦀🐟
