I'm an almost retired orthopedic surgeon. I spend a couple of weeks a month in Chico to visit my son and family which includes three grandsons, ages 9, 7 and 2. Would like to fish the feather river with my son and the oldest two, but know almost nothing about the river. How to access it, where to go, etc.

Check out local bait shop. That would be the best place to start.

Hey Doc…check out Kevin Brock Fishing guide…he runs guided trips on the Sac and Feather. Your grandsons might be a little too young for long hours confined to a boat but Kevin can give you lots of River access info. Tight lines.

I've fished the Feather from the Oroville fish hatchery on down past the high flow section (2+miles downstream, etc.). Get information from a local outdoor store in Oroville - good store east about 1/4 mile or so from the bridge in Oroville. Another store farther uphill going east, etc.. Locals will help you find where to fish and sell you what you need for success. They also know the latest fish reports, etc.. Sorry can't remember store names butt been there many times.
