Know them and experienced them all. Mercurochrome worked like a charm. I remember my mom’s Rambler with the push buttons and metal dashboard. 😳. I also remember my folks and grandparents calling out phone numbers beginning with the call letters, like DI, or Dickens 3-6861. This happened to be our phone number in the 60’s. Don’t ask me how I still remember it. 🤔. You had to pick up the phone to see if someone was on it, party lines. Thanks for taking me back to a much better and simpler time Wulfy. 👍

Can't admit to having the banana seat or seeing the push button shifter, but the rest sure hits home.

So you must be older than me Wulffy.

urchromeI remember all but Mercurochrome. My mother used some disinfectant in a tube that still stung. Getting those feet clean required a lot of scrubbing. My friend had a banana seat bike. I didn't use the phone much. We yelled out the door for our friends. Usually somebody was within earshot.

Bob, I don't think the age has much to do with it I'm 65 and remember all of it and then some. Did any of y'all take your bath in a #3 wash tub had to heat up the water in a pot, or use a outhouse, milk the cow before school, grow your vegetables, make butter, had chickens, hogs, cow's,and goats all for food. Mom went to town maybe twice a month. Well that's the way I was raised and wouldn't changed a thing ( well having to go to the outhouse at night) 😂 My childhood was the best, makes me appreciate the ease of things today....🙏🙏🙏

The outhouse smell always made it such a great experience to go. Grandparents' cottage with outhouse 40 yards from house. Everybody but Grandma had to use it. She wouldn't and had grandpa add a bathroom.

Well we had the Sears catalog but I enjoyed looking at the pictures of all the things I wanted but knew I'd never get, we had paper bags and newspapers also. I guess our first phone # will always stick in our minds (375-4082) was ours 😂

Lived them all, Wulffy. The Mercurochrome had the glass applicator. And there was another called Methiolate, I believe. Mom used them regularly. Phone number, JEfferson 8-3688. Then my sister and I got our own phone, LUcurn2-2024. Built my own “Stingray” banana seat, sissy bar, butterfly handle bars , bobbed chrome fenders from an old 20” bike that I paid a couple of dollars for. Painted orange. Recirculating hand towel, Chrysler push button transmission. Push mower, without a motor, barefoot and death defying play grounds. Those were the good times, fer sure… 🐟on
