Had an epic evening on the lower CT River catching 15 or so bluefish up to 32”. These fish have to be up there as pound for pound hardest fighting. They never quit and seem to want to rip you apart, limb by limb! Took one home for grilling two ways tomorrow night.

Yeah saw, those little teeth are way more dangerous than they appear in the photo. We don't call 'em choppers for nothing.

Never forget my intro to taking a bluefish off a hook. Luckily it was watching some guy on the end of Sandy Hook, not me. Lots of blood. Went and bought my first pair of needlenose pliers!!!

Do remember on Carolina Beach being woken up by a ruckus. Went out and a guy I knew said "Go get your pole, you don't even need bait. Water was boiling with them. They were biting bare hooks and I got one!"

Had lot's of fun days with bluefish. From 10 inch snappers to 14 plus pounders and one that got the tip of my thumb.

Only found one recipe that I actually enjoyed eating the smaller ones. Oily fish even after cutting away the dark part. Took a lot of ingredients and time so I just throw them back now. Fun to catch tho!!

Nice catching Steve. Are you IN the WICC Tournament? Yesterday the top 3 on the leaderboard were all Connecticut fish, and all #15 and change, fish. Thanks for the pictures.

Nice fish. I envy you. I hooked my first bluefish back in 86. I hooked up in Plymouth, right behind the Mayflower replica. It completely changed the meaning of fighting a fish, for me. It also cost me an entire spool of line off an Ambassador 5000. That few minutes will be in my memory bank forever. I landed several more that day with heavier line permitting a tighter drag. What an awesome fish.

Beautiful blue, KS! My wife's favorite eating fish--her dad grilled them when she was a kid in Long Island.

We're you fishing the channel between red and green cans? I'm hoping things are picking up there and causeway areas.

Good question, Fred, unfortunately no. I am wishing I did though, I believe there is a category for kayak fishing and I may have been in the running. Biggest fish was 32” plus a bit, my darn scale wouldn’t power up so I don’t know the weight but it was fat as could be. A definite contender!

Oh well, there's always next year. Still a nice catch, especially from the yak. Be careful, we don't call them Choppers for nothing.

I just saw the final results. A guy from Long island won with a 20.18 pounder, weighed in at 4:33 pm, today. He knocked out the guy from Niantic with a 15.18 pounder.
