Hey Garey great milestone for you and the boat. Great pictures. I kept a catch and condition log when I first started fishing the bay but that didn’t last more than about 2 years. I’ll let you know when we can get out to the new spot on the bay. Larry.

Thanks Larry, did love that new spot!!! Got home in an hour

Well, I have reached a milestone in my boat. Today I brought over the rail, fish # 1,000. Doesn’t sound like a major accomplishment, as a few people here on the stage catch that many in a couple of weeks or months and they have told us so. I pretty much only target LMB’s. Went to San Vincente reservoir with my wife this morning looking for 3 fish. At my first stop, got slammed by a monster, and had it on for about three minutes. Then it took a major run (dive) right at the motor, and poof, goodbye. Lost a couple more then started landing them. Caught my third fish about 9:30 am and my Magic Number was accomplished. Caught a few more and it was starting to push 100* and the little lady said it was time to go.

At the ripe old age of 71, I caught my first LMB about 8 ½ years ago, and as most of you know I was an ocean fisherman first. Spent over 50 years out there on open waters. When we moved inland, and my body told me I couldn’t handle the big boys anymore decided to try bass fishing. I will hit that magic age of 79 in about a month and I can still launch and take my boat out of the water by myself.

Started out shore fishing for a year and graduated to rental boats for the next two years. Five and a half years ago, bought my first bass boat and absolutely love it. I believe I have turned into a decent fisherman and have landed my share of quality bass. Only one task remains………The Great DD!

The Highlights:
Average trips per year: 35
Best day ever: 36 LMB’s
Best Five fish in one day: 23.5lbs
Total LMB’s caught in the boat: 934: By me 698
Personal Best: LMB 8.8lbs, SMB 5.2lbs
Skunks: 22
Favorite people to fish with: My grandkids of course!

I am so thankful to God for giving me the opportunity to do something I love. Hopefully it will last another few years, or at least until I get that DD!!
Well, I have reached a milestone in my boat. Today... (show quote)

Excellent job my friend. That’s a lot of fish ! Celebrate and then get on track for another thousand 😉 P.S. been catching a few of my own up here too. Fished 17 different lakes this season all within 45 minutes of my house. Found a really really really remote lake lost in the mountains supposedly loaded with bass. Guess I’ll know by Monday. Lol. Keep the passion alive. Oh yeah, you’re gonna get a record dump of rain come Monday. Keep your rig ready in case you need to leave the house. Lol 😉

Thanks buddy, not sure about another 1,000 but sure would like to get that 10 pounder!! Wow, I knew there were a lot of lakes up there, but didn't know there were so many so close. That remote lake sounds really awesome, can't wait for the report and pics. My wife and I have started kicking around the idea of spending a month up by you next summer. Getting really tired of the heat and slow fishing conditions down here. Yep, its going to pour for a couple of days and the boat is ready

D.D..designated driver..so he can sip on a few cold ones while fishing...that's what keeps him so young at heart and healthy...lol just saying...no double digit bass this far northeast...winter slows down there feeding..but we do have some very nice bass fish here in Vermont...I do my fishing from a 14 ft row boat and do very well if I may say..as most bass here like the shallows..so row boat is great...and I can drink a few without DWI...but congrats on your 1000 it is a great accomplishment..keep it up and the best of luck to ya!!! Enjoy ps..I due have a 15 horse outboard for when I have a DD...just saying.

Thanks, you might give San Vincente a try. Most of the fish I caught were in the 2-3 lb range. Would guess the big one I lost was in the 5-6lb range. But I did catch a lot, and probably lost another 5-7 fish.

Thanks Proline, I don't think you would regret getting a bass boat. I truly enjoy it, either by myself or with grandkids or friends along. I think 65 is young (easy to say now). Go for it!!
