Hey guys, I'm sorry I made a mistake on which river I reported on. My report on the Napa yesterday should have been for the Pet.
Thanks Wrench for pointin out the mistake. My bad. I can't even keep my rivers straight any more.

No worries. Still nice fish and I can’t cast that far.

Hey Saw, curious about west coast stripers.Do they remain in the rivers all summer? Do they migrate south or further out to sea during winter? Do they have the ability to grow to full size like east coast? Seems like limits are much more generous then NJ. I think our current is one at 28”-31. Maybe different limits would allow a population of larger fish? That’s a lot of questions so if u don’t want to get into it, cool but I’m curious. Thanks

Well JD, IDK if I have an answer for all your questions.
First off, we have Stripers in our rivers all year.
I do know they spawn in them but I don't know if they really go back out to the ocean in between times they spawn.
Yes we have generous limits but they are probly goin to be goin to a slot limit out here as well. Don't know what that slot will be but they're probly gonna impose it soon.
There are 20 to 30+ pound fish caught out here by some guys that fish for the bigger fish.
They use baits or lures that are MUCH larger that what most of us use.
Hope that answers some of your questions. If not, just ask again and I'll try my best to answer them.

Thanks Saw, that’s a lot of info. We have what we call residents stay in rivers and estuaries where they were born until about 18-20 inches, then they join the schools when they are big enough and migrate down the coast. Curious if there are large schools in the ocean there or if they mainly stay in rivers. Maybe someone knows. Really interests me. I know schools used to migrate up and down west coast of Florida, but today much smaller population and mainly stay in panhandle rivers. Stripers can survive and reproduce in large freshwater impoundments. Amazing fish!

I'm sorry I don't know much about them out in the ocean but they have some pretty big ones caught in the surf sometimes I've read about but know nothing personally.
They are a wonder fish to fish for and once you get hooked on them it's hard to go fresh weter bass fishin anymore.
The size and fight just isn't there anymore for fresh water LM & SM.
Ask any of the guys I've taken out Striper fishin and see what they say.
I'm not sayin that LM & SM fishin isn't fun. I'm just sayin I like Striper fishin much better.

They catch Stripers outside and south of the Golden Gate Bridge from beaches near Pacifica.
I've never tried that, but I have heard about it for years.

Hi JD--
I frequent the sacramento delta here.
I catch strippers (stripers) most everytime I go out- Never found any off shore--
My personal record is a 36" stripper-- Don't know the weight, just lots of filets-
