The past week, even though we've been hot at Havasu, the fishing for stripers has been very good. I found a spot that runs a mile and a half or so in length below Mesquite Bay that's producing many small stripers with an occasional two pounder. I had a double hookup on Saturday and yesterday had another with both a largemouth and a striper on the same chartreuse square bill, one on each treble hook. I've been catching and releasing up until yesterday and I ended up bringing six home that my wife filleted, did a very nice job on and we had Taco Tuesday dinner tonight and they were delicious. The fish are real scrappers and they've stuck treble hooks in me constantly wriggling around once I bring them into my kayak.

Nice catching Langer! Wow I've caught 2 of a kind before, but never the combo platter. Be careful in the heat out there.

Hey Langer. Is there a size or quantity limit there?
We have a 2 fish limit and they have to be 18 inches or longer. Just wonderin?
I definitely know what you mean by how they thrash around and the hazards of those treble hooks. Got one in my hand yesterday.

No Saw in Arizona there's no size limit and no quantity limit. At Havasu there are thousands of 10-11 in stripers in a half mile area that I've been fishing the last few days. It would probably help the fishery by eliminating some of these in the same size range, they must have had a heck of a spawn year in 2022.

For sure . I've always thought we should have a smaller size limit out here or a slot limit. Something like 16 to 26 inches maybe. They are suppose to be goin to a slot limit but don't know what it'll be though.

I did catch another eight stripers this morning including my biggest fish of the week which had to been close to 4 lb. But they sure run in schools and action will be hot for 5 or 10 minutes and then they disappear. I like to anchor my kayak in spots as the wind moves me around but you do need to keep moving as the fish are moving.

There is a 10 fish limit on stripers.

Thanks for the info buddy. I've only taken them home once and that was six which yielded probably close to 2 lb of fillets. They were delicious.
I've been fishing here all summer with the same results. Bunch of small ones with an occasional 2 to 3 pounder.
