Can you guess the meaning of the 16th Century Latin word desiccation?
If you know the answer please don't hesitate to post it. If you don't already know it then guesses only please. Thank you 👍

Congratulations to everyone. You all answered the question correctly. Desiccation is the act of removing all moisture, to dry out, dehydrate.
See you all know ancient Latin, you just didn't know it.

I know gaudeamus igitur?
It means " Let us rejoice" or " to celebrate" .
I first heard that phrase while visiting a Jewish friend

Lol--my parents were big fans of the '50s musical, so much so that we visited Heidelberg in the early '70s. (also big fans of Sound of Music so visited Salzburg on the same trip). I regret not being able to appreciate it when I was a kid. Did revisit in the '80s and '90s as a grown up with my Frau; but that time for the beer! Noch ein Bier bitte!

Heidelburg is a beautiful city that was spared from American wrath during the war by a quirk. Ike was having a very large staff meeting in late '43 and optimistically said 'we're going to win this war and we need a place for our HQ when it is over. Any ideas?' A lieutenant colonel stood up, said he had gone to graduate school there in the 30s describing how beautiful it is, location etc. Ike was convinced immediately and told the USAAF 'do not bomb'. Town surrendered before the inevitable artillery barrages and the GIs of the 9th Infantry Division were shocked by how gorgeous the town was/is. Until this very day it is HQ for USAREUR! Lucky town!
