I've seen really big ones under my kayak swimming along in the Oswego River near Minetto, NY.
Easily 1/2 the length of my kayak.

Fishing for Musky two days ago. Sturgeon jumping all over the place. Had taken another picture of something else, had my camera in my hand (phone) , finger on button looking out over the water, over the top of the phone.Saw one jump, snapped the photo, didn't know if I got it or not. Got back to the motel checked , I did. Enlarged it a little an cropped it to center it. Just got lucky. Photo was the best part of the trip, no musky.
